If you are a programmer and have been coding for some time, you must have encountered a situation where an event listener is not working in your Firefox browser. Event listeners, like all other APIs, are not cross-browser compatible and may present some problems.
An event listener is a function that is called when an event occurs. It can be associated with an element in the DOM, such as a button or a link. It is why you need a browser dedicated for web development for the best outcome.
When an event listener is created, it is attached to the DOM element with a specific ID. So if you have multiple elements on your page with the same ID, only one listener will be called when the element receives an event.
While you expect things to run smoothly, sometimes your browser may present problems, and your event listener may not be firing up as it should.
Why are my event listeners not working? If your event listeners are not working, here are some possible reasons why:
How do I know if an event listener is working?
You can use the Firefox Dev Tools to inspect the DOM and check for the presence of your custom attributes.
If your code is wrong, then the event listener won’t work. But if your code is right, then there’s no way to tell whether an event listener will work until after it’s been used in a real-world situation with real-world requirements.
Expert tip:
Another solid browser that supports event listeners is Opera. The browser can schedule events in the document queues more effectively with passive event listeners.
This is particularly handy in touch and wheel interactions, as it prevents the browser from generating redundant scroll events. Furthermore, switching to Opera will transfer everything you need from Firefox.
Opera
Passive event listeners can easily be managed in Opera, test it yourself.

What can I do if event listeners are not working in Firefox? 2. Check your codeThe first thing to check is the syntax of your code. Make sure that you have written it correctly and that you have included all of the required code.
3. Enable JavaScriptIf you have tried all the solutions, but your event listener is still not working in Firefox, try using a different browser. If the event works in one browser but not another, it might be a problem with how the browser handles events or how it renders your page.
You can also try using code writing software to help you get the job done easily and minimize any mistakes.

The Thunderbolt port is a versatile feature that allows you to connect USB devices to your laptop, as well as other devices. Ethernet is another important feature of the Thunderbolt port that allows you to connect to a wired network.
One of the most common issues with the Thunderbolt port is Ethernet not working properly. When this happens, it can make connecting to the internet or other devices impossible, which can be very frustrating.
It could be your Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration but you can easily resolve this issue by checking out our dedicated article on the same.
Why is my Thunderbolt cable not working? Here are some of the most common reasons why your Thunderbolt cable may not be working:
The cable isn’t plugged in properly – Make sure that all ends of the cable are firmly plugged into their proper ports. The plug itself should fit snugly, but not too tightly, as that can cause damage to the pins.
Damaged or faulty cable – If the ends won’t connect with each other at all, it may be because one side has been damaged or has a short circuit. If you’re using a new cable and it still doesn’t work, try replacing it with another one to see if that works better. If so, your original cable was faulty and needs to be replaced.
The device you’re using doesn’t have Thunderbolt capability – Not all computers support Thunderbolt technology, so check with your computer manufacturer before purchasing cables for it; if your computer does support Thunderbolt, then make sure you get compatible cables for it as well.
You are using an incorrect cable – Cables that don’t conform to standards can cause problems too. If you are using a third-party cable, it might be a counterfeit or a knock-off.
Why won’t my Mac recognize my Ethernet cable?Mac users can connect two Macs by creating a Thunderbolt bridge. This way, they can transfer files faster. However, the network sharing isn’t always smooth and some problems may occur.
If your Mac has trouble recognizing your Ethernet cable or the Thunderbolt is not connected to your Macbook Air, below are some possible reasons:
Problems with your router – If everything seems okay with your Mac but not with your router, there could be something wrong with it. You should try resetting it. This will reset any changes that may have been made to its settings.
Indirect connections – If you’re using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, make sure that it is connected properly to your computer. The adapter should be connected directly to your Mac through one of its USB ports and not through a hub or extension cord.
Loose connections – Ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both ends—the wall jack and the back of your computer—and that there are no bends in the cable anywhere along its length.
Now let’s look at some of the ways you can troubleshoot such issues.
How can I fix my Thunderbolt if Ethernet is not working? 1. Check your cable connectionMake sure the cable is securely inserted into both devices. If you’re using a USB-C to USB-C cable, make sure it’s the right type of cable. Also, ensure you’re using a compatible cable. Not all cables are created equal, so be sure to use only certified cables with your devices.
Try another port on your computer or use another device that uses the same type of cable. If it works with this other device, then your USB port may not be working or something is wrong with your computer.
2. Remove any unnecessary devicesRemove any extra devices that aren’t being used from the system’s ports or slots before checking whether they are causing issues with connectivity.
This includes USB hubs or other accessories that may interfere with communication between your computer and another device connected via a Thunderbolt cable.
If you are getting a Thunderbolt error, it is likely because of an outdated driver. This can happen when you install drivers on your own or if you have a new computer that comes with an older version of an OS pre-installed.
You can download and install the necessary drivers from the manufacturer’s website. This includes both Thunderbolt drivers and network drivers. Once you have updated all of your drivers, try connecting again to see if anything has changed.
In case you don’t know exactly which update is right for your driver, we recommend you use a third-party software. It scans your PC and finds straight away the most suitable update for your old drivers.
Here’s how to do it:
Download and install the Outbyte Driver Updater app.
Launch the software.
Wait for the app to detect all incompatible drivers.
Afterward, it will show you a list of the drivers found to select the ones to Update or Ignore.
Restart your PC to ensure the applied changes.

Use this software and solve all driver-related issues from your PC.

Disclaimer: You may need to upgrade the app from the free version to perform specific actions.
4. Restore factory settingsExpert tip:
This includes apps and files, but also any changes you might have made to system settings or preferences. While this process clears away all of your personal information, it also eliminates any software bugs that may be causing the problem with the Ethernet connection.
If there’s no need for that information anymore, restoring factory settings is a great way to reset your device and get it working properly again.
5. Reset network settingsResetting network settings resets all configurations related to networking including Wi-Fi connections which might help solve this problem easily.
This will clear out any problems with the settings that may be causing a poor connection. It can also help resolve unstable connections.
Make sure that you have the latest version of your operating system installed. Updates can fix bugs, vulnerabilities and other issues that could cause problems with your Ethernet connectivity.
Newer versions also tend to support the latest firmware and are more stable. You should also scan for viruses and malware when updating your OS.
7. Restart your PCIf you have not restarted your computer recently or if it has been running for hours without, it may be time to restart both your PC and router.
Sometimes it’s all about rebooting your computer. This will remove any programs that may be interfering with the connection between your Ethernet adapter and router or switch. Rebooting clears out any memory issues that could be causing problems with the device.
Can you run Ethernet through Thunderbolt?Yes, you can run Ethernet through Thunderbolt. However, this is not a standard feature and requires an adapter to convert the signal.
Thunderbolt is a high-speed data connection that can be used for both external storage and internal communication. It’s a good idea to run Ethernet through Thunderbolt but it’s not an easy task.
To start with, you’ll need an active Thunderbolt-to-Ethernet adapter. This adapter will allow you to connect your computer directly to an Ethernet cable or switch.
If you are in the market for USB-C adapter hubs, we have an expert list that works with most modern ports.
Should you experience any other issues such as Ethernet keeps disconnecting, we have a detailed guide on how to solve this problem.

Problems like these can become extremely frustrating in time, as you can end up wasting a lot of time trying to figure out what is happening.
In order to help you fix the problem with website buttons not working, we came up with a series of fixes, described below.
Why does the back button not work on some websites? That’s a good question you asked there, and you should know that there isn’t just one cause that can trigger this. In fact, the back button becoming unresponsive can occur due to multiple factors.
First of all, remember that while browsing the Internet, certain websites open their links in either a new window or a new tab. As a result, all your previous search history will not move over to the new window.
Furthermore, when you visit a web page, it can automatically direct you to another page. If you press the back button after this happens, you will immediately be re-forwarded to that same page again.
Another situation is when you access websites that add code to their pages, which prevents users from using the back button to leave that site.
Last but not least, it could be possible for an Internet browser to become corrupted, causing some features and functionality to stop working.
Quick Tip:
If you keep having issues with website buttons, it may be better to switch to a new browser. Users might find that some website buttons are not working in Chrome so, try opening the websites in an alternative one, such as Opera One.
Expert tip:

6 Ways To Fix Spacebar Is Not Working In Windows
Spacebar and Enter are the most used keys on a keyboard. Imagine if these keys were to stop working – it would prove disastrous to your workflow. If you’re currently facing this issue with the Spacebar on your PC, we can help. Follow this guide to learn how to fix the problem of the spacebar and keyboard not working in Windows.
Tip: in need of a new portable keyboard? Check out these foldable Bluetooth keyboards.
Initial FixesBefore we jump to specific solutions for the spacebar not working in Windows, there are a few general fixes you can try. Sometimes you can fix a serious-looking problem just by checking a few connections.
Make sure your keyboard is clean: dust, food crumbs, and other particles can become stuck behind your keyboard’s keys, making them unable to operate properly. If possible, remove the keys or use cotton swabs to clean between the keys. You can also use compressed air to clear off dust particles obstructing the keys.
Restart your PC: a system restart refreshes all of your system processes, eliminating any problems caused by system bugs.
Run the SFC command: SFC is a Windows utility that checks your system for any missing or corrupted files. If it finds any faulty files, it will repair them.
Roll back the keyboard driver to an earlier version or reinstall the keyboard driver: Driver updates are usually downloaded and installed automatically by Windows. You can also download them manually from the manufacturer’s official website. However, these updates might not be compatible with your system or contain bugs that require later fixes. You can roll back your keyboard drivers from Device Manager or even uninstall them, then restart your PC so that it can reinstall the drivers automatically after the boot sequence.
1. Connect the Keyboard to a Different USB PortMost keywords connect to a PC via a USB port unless they are wireless. Even the wireless ones can sometimes connect to your PC via a USB dongle.
Pexels
Either way, checking your PC USB ports for any dust that could interfere with the keyword connection would be helpful. Then try connecting the keyboard to a different USB port and see if the Spacebar is now operational.
2. Run the Windows Keyboard TroubleshooterWindows has various troubleshooters that can help you diagnose your problems and effectively solve them. Conveniently enough, there is a dedicated Keyboard troubleshooter you can run.
If the troubleshooter finds problems with your keyboard, it will instruct you on how to fix it. If no problems are found, you will see the message “No changes or updates were necessary.”
3. Disable Sticky Keys and Filter KeysThe Sticky Keys feature is an accessibility feature that allows users to activate multiple keys together while pressing them one at a time. If you’ve enabled this option, Windows will assume that you’re trying to press a shortcut sequence and won’t register your Spacebar strokes.
Another feature that may cause your Spacebar not to function is Filter Keys, which, if activated, can ignore repeated keystrokes. To avoid any issues, you should make sure that both options are disabled by following the steps below:
The first two options are “Sticky keys” and “Filter keys.” Turn both off.
4. Enable Human Interface Device ServicePress the Win + R keys simultaneously to launch the Run app.
Type services.msc in the box and press Enter.
Good to know: get up to date with the latest Windows update problems and their solutions.
While it’s rare to see a Windows update cause keyboard problems, such as the spacebar not working, it can happen. If you suspect that is the issue, uninstall the most recent Windows update.
As an alternative, you can restore your system to a previous restore point. If you have created a restore point via System Restore, you can use it to bring your PC back to an earlier state when the Spacebar was still working.
6. Reset BIOS to DefaultSuppose your BIOS is corrupted, or you recently made some adjustments to it, then your PC won’t be able to boot correctly, resulting in hardware problems. To undo any changes to the BIOS, you should reset it.
Turn your computer on and rapidly press the BIOS key as soon as the Windows logo appears. Depending on your PC manufacturer, this key can vary, but the most common ones are Esc, Delete, F1, F2, F10, F11, or F12.
Navigate with the arrow keys to the “Exit” tab.
Find “Load Setup Defaults” and press Enter.
You may need to confirm your choice again.
Your PC will restart, and the BIOS will return to its factory settings. Not that you will not lose any data in the process.
Tip: if you’re still using Windows 10, learn how to convert Legacy BIOS to UEFI.
Frequently Asked Questions Is there a way to assign the Spacebar function to another key? There is no way to assign the Spacebar to another key with built-in Windows apps. However, you can try this easy workaround: wherever you want to type a space, hold down the Alt key and type “255” with your Numpad. This should leave a space when you let go of the Alt button. Note that you must ensure that your Numlock is disabled.
How do I activate the on-screen keyboard? The easiest way to activate the on-screen keyboard is to search for it in the taskbar’s search box and select the best result. Follow the steps in this guide to activate the Windows 11 Touch keyboard.
How do I replace my Spacebar keycap? To remove a keycap from a keyboard, gently pull it up with a small flat-head screwdriver. For the Spacebar key, try to pry as close to the center as possible. Once the key pops out, examine the hinges of the key socket and line up the new keycap holes with them. Replace the new keycap, and push gently and evenly on the four sides.
