With 1 billion users worldwide, Instagram is the biggest social media platform that exists today. It is not just a place where you post pictures anymore, it has become a great place to reach your target audience and build brand awareness as well. It can be difficult to know what works best in terms of content strategy if you haven’t first analyzed your growth on Instagram. Below we will discuss how to use analytics for insights into what type of posts generate engagement so that you know which content you should create in the future. Analytics are important because they help us determine what to do and what not to do. They also help us determine how well we are doing so if you would like to learn how to use analytics, here is a breakdown that explains it all:

Why is Instagram good for marketing?

Instagram is a good place for marketing because your target audience is on the platform and it can generate money if targeted correctly. Instagram is the ideal place to target millennials who have a whopping $1.3 trillion annual purchasing power in the United States alone, making this the group with the largest spending power of any generation. This number is still expected to grow as millennials were expected to make up 50% of the workforce by 2023. These statistics display the potential amount of customers Instagram has at your disposal making it a good place for marketing. Altogether Instagram has 1 billion users which is a beautiful number for anybody looking to market anything. The platform makes it possible for you to gain audience insight in the form of Instagram analytics.

Activity insights

Instagram also makes it possible for you to get to know your demographic through audience analytics. These analytics will inform you about the top location, age range as well as gender of your audience. You will also have access to your follower hours which tells you the average time of day your demographic are on Instagram as well as follower days which tell you the days of the week that your audience is most active. Knowing your audience is very helpful because you get to know who is on the receiving end of your content and allows you to tailor your content as well as posting times according to the information you receive.

See what kind of posts work

Analytics is a great way to see which posts are popular and which aren’t. You can discover this information by looking at analytics for Instagram feed, stories, reels and IGTV. Looking at these analytics individually will give you a better understanding of which posts are most popular and which posts you should be posting. Knowing these analytics is very helpful because it will tell you which types of posts you should focus on based on their success rate amongst your followers, which helps to

Increase brand awareness

Lastly, we are going to discuss how you can use analytics to increase brand awareness on Instagram. To do this you simply need to focus on the following metrics:

Follower count: The more followers you have means more brand awareness.

Impressions: The more people who see your stories and posts the better for your brand or business.

Reach: Tracks the number of views on your stories, posts and your account. Growing your Instagram reach is an important part of growing brand awareness.

How To Mute Someone On Instagram

Last Updated on June 16, 2023

While everyone is free to post what they like on Instagram (as long as it falls within Instagram’s guidelines), this does not mean you are under any obligation to constantly see it. For whatever the reason, you may not want to see a certain account’s posts or stories, and you do have that control. Here, we tell you how to mute someone on Instagram, and all the considerations too.

What Does Muting Entail?

When you mute someone on Instagram, you’ll have the choice to mute their stories, posts, or both. This means that you won’t be able to see anything they post, but you will still be following them.

You will also still be able to send them direct messages, and vice versa. You are also still able to view their posts and stories if you really want to, you just need to go to their profile directly.

Additionally, Instagram will not notify the person, telling them that they have been muted. So there’s no need to worry about that.

1

How To Mute Someone On Instagram

We will now be providing you with a step-by-step guide on how you can mute somebody on Instagram. It is very simple to do this, and you can reverse it whenever you like!

3

How To Mute Someone Through Messages On Instagram

As well as muting someone’s stories and posts, you can also mute their messages and video calls on Instagram.

Their messages will still come through, but you will not be notified, and you will have to go into your inbox to see them, the same goes for calls. This is a great option if that little notification icon becomes a bit too much.

Step

1

Open Your Instagram Home Page

Open up your Instagram home page.

Step

2

Tap The Messages Icon

Tap the messages icon in the top-right corner (it looks like a little paper plane).

Once you’ve tapped this icon, you will see all of your messages. Select the one that you want to mute.

Tap The Name At The Top Of The Message

Tap the name at the top of the message, and you will see two options – ‘mute messages’ and ‘mute call notifications’.

You can also mute messages just as easily, which is great if you would prefer not to be bothered by notifications.

It is simple to complete both alterations, and they can be reversed just as easily. And remember, the person you are muting will not know, as Instagram won’t notify them.

How To Share Panoramic Images On Instagram

As you know, Instagram currently does not accept panoramic images.

TUTORIAL: How to share multiple photos and videos in a single Instagram post

When viewed on the web or in the app, such a post results in a seamless, smoothly swipeable panoramic photo. The trick is in turning the source panoramic image into a trio of cropped photos that can be uploaded to Instagram in order to create a carousel-type post.

Here’s one example of a 3×1 panorama-style post.

How to post panoramic images to Instagram

To save yourself from manual work, we recommend using a dedicated app to share panorama-style shots on Instagram. Such apps automate the whole process so that all that’s left for you to do is upload the individual square shots to Instagram as a multi-image post.

1) Download the app Panols for $1.99 from App Store.

2) Launch Panols on your iPhone or iPad.

3) Tap Allow Photo Access and hit OK to grant Panols permission to access your images.

4) Panols greets you with thumbnails of all the panoramic images residing in your Photos library (as a reminder, iOS saves panoramic shots you take with your device in a special album titled “Panoramas”). Choose a panoramic photo that you’d like to process with Panols.

5) You’ll now see your selected panoramic image divided into three squares. Pinch to zoom in and out or swipe around in order to align the panorama to the grid the way you like.

6) Tap Export Panol at the bottom.

7) After you see a message confirming that your panoramic shot has been processed and exported to the album “Panols” in your photo library, tap Done and quit the app.

8) Launch Instagram for iPhone.

9) Tap the Plus button centered at the bottom of the screen.

10) Tap Select Multiple (the icon looks like three stacks of paper on top of one another).

12) Optionally, choose a filter for all of your squares at once by tapping one of the filter thumbnails lined up alongside the bottom of the screen. You can apply a different filter to each square image, if you’d like, by tapping the icon in its lower-left corner. Tap Next to continue.

13) Write your caption and/or fill out other metadata that you deem important, then tap Share to upload your final result the same way you’d upload any other Instagram post.

Your followers will see the first image in their feed and can swipe their way to the other squares in the series. For those wondering, you can actually upload up to ten images this way to share as a single carousel-style Instagram post.

Swipe left and right to seamlessly move between the individual square shots

And if you embed your carousel-style Instagram in a blog post, you’ll see something like this.

TIP: Every panol created using the Panols app contains metadata data that you can edit like the image name, description, tags, location and so forth.

You can reposition and re-export your panoramic shots in Panols at any time

As mentioned earlier in this post, the Panols app saves four images in the Camera roll with every conversion: the original panoramic image along with a trio of cropped square shots.

In order to save storage space on your device, you’d be wise to delete these items from the Panols album in Photos after you have uploaded them to Instagram.

How To Use Instagram Reels To Create Or View Videos

Instagram has finally extended the availability of Instagram Reels to more global markets including India. What is Instagram Reels, you may ask? Well, Instagram Reels is Facebook’s answer to TikTok, a short-video app. Now that we have access to Reels, we will discuss everything you want to know about Instagram’s foray into short video space.

In this article, we will guide you on how to get started with Instagram Reels, in addition to discovering Reels content and creating Reels to share with your followers.

What is Instagram Reels

Are you an Instagram influencer? If your answer is yes, Instagram Reels is simply made for you.

Three words Short, crisp, and entertaining explain Reels. If you love watching or short, crisp, and entertaining videos from your Favorite ‘social media celebrity,’ then Reels is a perfect place for you. Not just watching, you can also create your own videos, add effects, filters, music from a huge library of songs on Instagram, among other things. That’s what Reels is all about.

If I still have to describe Instagram Reels in one sentence, Instagram Reels is to TikTok what Instagram Stories is to Snapchat.

Instagram Reels is also Facebook and Instagram’s attempt to challenge TikTok’s legacy and dominance in the short-video space. Facebook continues to feel threatened by the way TikTok has emerged as one of the most-popular non-gaming apps worldwide in such a short span. For whatever reasons Reels exists, let’s see how you can get started with it.

How to use Instagram Reels

Getting started with Instagram Reels involves a two-step approach: Content creation and content consumption

How to discover and watch Instagram Reels

Many people struggle at finding ways to watch Instagram Reels in the first place. This article will help you discover Reels, in addition to several ways to interact with it. Getting started with Reels is fairly simple.

Make sure your Instagram app is up-to-date. Android and iOS users can go to Google Play and App Store, respectively. See if your Instagram app has received an update. Even if you haven’t received an update, you should still see Reels. Keeping the app updated is a good practice, to begin with.

Now that you are all set, just go to Instagram. There are a couple of ways you can find Reels. First up, the Explore Tab. You can navigate to the Explore tab by tapping the ‘Search’ option at the bottom of your Instagram app. Remember, you don’t have to search for anything. Just tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom.

The first video you see in the Explore tab is Reels. You will also find a small watermark for ‘Reels’ at the bottom left corner of the video. That’s how you know you are looking at Reels. Once you tap the video, you will be taken into a whole new world of Instagram Reels. All you need to do is swipe up to watch more Reels.

Unlike stories, Reels won’t disappear after 24-hours of their creation and they have a permanent place in your Reels tab unless you specifically choose to delete them.

How to create with Instagram Reels

Are you looking to post to Instagram Reels? Believe me, it’s a fairly simple process. All you need to do is tap the camera icon. Then, discover and select Reels at the bottom. You will come across a page that says ‘Create With Reels. Record and edit short videos and share them to Explore, where anyone may discover them.’ Sounds fairly simple, right?

Now, tap the ‘Get Started’ option at the bottom. But before you get started, remember that anyone can create Reels using your original audio if your account is public. Hence, be sure about what you are getting into. If you are privacy conscious, make sure that Instagram profile is set to ‘Private’ under settings.

Once you tap ‘Get Started,’ you will be taken right into Instagram’s camera viewfinder. There, you can switch between the front and rear camera, depending on what you want to record in your short video. On the left-hand side, you will find different options to edit your video. First things first, hit the record button at the bottom. Once you are done recording a video, you can always edit it the way you want.

On the left-hand side, you can add music to your videos, select speed, set timer up to 5 seconds, among other things. You can also add several effects and filters to your videos before posting them as Reels.

Once you have created a Reel, the next task is to share it with your followers. Similar to posts and IGTV videos, you can add a caption and hashtags to Instagram Reels. You can also check the option if you wish to share your Reel to feed. Interestingly enough, Instagram also provides creators with an option to set a custom thumbnail cover to their Reel.

Ways to interact with Instagram Reels

What if I don’t see Instagram Reels?

There are a few reasons why you may not be able to find Reels in your Instagram. First of all, Instagram Reels is currently not available for everyone.

At the time of writing this article, Instagram Reels is limited to select regions including India, Brazil, France, and Germany. If you are located in a region where Instagram hasn’t launched Reels yet, you won’t be able to access Reels.

How To Fix “Link Not Allowed” On Instagram

The “Link not allowed” error is a common error on Instagram.

Here’s the full error message, “Link not allowed. It looks like your profile contains a link that is not allowed. We restrict certain content and actions to protect our community. Tell us if you think we made a mistake”.

If you’re encountering this error, you might be looking for ways to fix it.

Though the “Tell us” button is to tell Instagram that they made a mistake, your link will still be blocked.

Similar to the “Action block” or the “Try again later” errors, the “Tell us” button is redundant.

In most cases, you have to fix the error manually or wait for it to be lifted.

For the “Link not allowed” error, you have to take manual action to get rid of it.

In this article, you’ll learn why you got “Link not allowed” on Instagram, and how to fix it.

Why am I getting the “Link Not Allowed” error?

You’re getting the “Link not allowed” error most likely because the link in your bio is linking to a website containing inappropriate content.

Otherwise, Instagram may have blocked your link by mistake.

Even so, you have to go through the same process to get your link unblocked.

In 2023, Instagram has blocked “add me” links, which means that certain Telegram and Snapchat links cannot be added to your bio.

If you added those links, you’ll receive this error, “Links asking someone to add you on another service aren’t supported on Instagram”.

However, other types of links are still allowed, such as YouTube, blogs, business websites, etc.

It’s still uncertain why Instagram blocked deeplinking on their platform.

However, the most logical assumption is because Telegram and Snapchat are posing a threat to their userbase.

With Telegram hitting 100 million monthly active users and Snapchat hitting 100 million daily active users back in 2023, it’s plausible for them to overtake Instagram.

Instagram is also known to be very restrictive with the external links you can add.

In social media platforms like Twitter, URLs that you add in your bio and the caption of your posts will be automatically converted into links.

On the other hand, you’re only given the ability to add a single link in your bio on Instagram.

The only other place where you can include a link is on your stories.

However, if you want to add a swipe up link in your stories, you need to reach 10,000 followers first.

At the end of the day, Instagram aims to keep its users on the app as long as possible.

How to Fix “Link Not Allowed” on Instagram

To Fix “Link Not Allowed” on Instagram, you can either try switching your network, using a link tool or using the Facebook Sharing Debugger Tool.

To begin with, your IP address might be blocked by Instagram.

Hence, you can’t add a link to you bio due to this.

If your IP address is blocked, switching your network will get rid of the error message.

On the other hand, if the link in your bio is blocked because it’s linking to inappropriate content, you can bypass this using a link tool.

Lastly, if your link has been blocked by mistake, submitting it in the Facebook Sharing Debugger Tool will do the trick.

Here’s how you can use these methods in detail.

Method #1. Switch your network

Switch from Wi-Fi to local data and vice-versa to get rid of the IP block.

The first method to fix the “Link Not Allowed” error on Instagram is to switch your network.

If your IP address is blocked by Instagram, switching your network will get rid of the block.

This is because your IP address will change once you’ve switched your network.

If you’re connected to Wi-Fi, switch to local data.

On the other hand, if you’re using local data (e.g. 4G), connect to a Wi-Fi instead.

For iOS devices, swipe up from the bottom of your screen to turn on/off Wi-Fi.

You can switch your network on an Android device by swiping down from the top of your screen.

Alternatively, you can try connecting to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) if the above method does not work.

Simply download a VPN app on the App Store/Google Play Store and connect to a VPN.

A VPN masks your IP address, so Instagram can only see the VPN’s server address and not yours.

After which, the “Link Not Allowed” error should be lifted.

Method #2. Use a link tool

Add an all-in-one link tool like Linktree or AllMyLinks in your bio.

The next method is to use an all-in-one link tool like Linktree or AllMyLinks.

An all-in-one link tool allows you to add more than one link in your bio.

This is especially useful for Instagram because you can only add a single link to your bio.

If you have multiple links that you want to add, you can use a link tool to do so.

A link tool also “hides” your link(s), so they won’t get blocked by Instagram.

For example, if one of your links are blocked by Instagram, you can use Linktree or AllMyLinks and add the same link there.

This will bypass the block and get rid of the “Link not allowed” error.

Alternatively, you can try using a URL shortener to bypass the error.

Paste your link in the shortener, copy the new link, and add it in your bio.

Since it’s a new link, it won’t get blocked by Instagram.

Method #3. Use the Facebook Sharing Debugger Tool

The last method is to use the Facebook Sharing Debugger tool.

The tool allows you to see the information of a website when it’s shared on Facebook, Instagram, or Messenger.

It’s a quick way for developers to troubleshoot and fix issues, and it’s also commonly used by social media managers.

If your link has been blocked on Instagram by mistake, you can debug it using this tool.

Since the “Tell us” button does not work, you need to manually debug it in the Facebook Sharing Debugger tool.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can use the tool:

Once you’re done with this, it should take about 1 to 3 days for the link to be unblocked (if it does not link to any inappropriate content).

After that, you should be able to add the link in your bio without encountering any errors.

Conclusion

Link blocking is a common issue on Instagram and many users have faced it before.

At times, Instagram might block your IP address as well, and you’ll have to switch your network in order to lift it.

Instagram blocks certain links because they are harmful to the community.

For instance, some websites are commonly linked by spam accounts.

On the other hand, other websites contain inappropriate content in them.

“Add me” links are also blocked on Instagram where Telegram and Snapchat links cannot be added to your bio.

Instagram is known to be very restrictive when it comes to links and the number of actions you can carry out (e.g. following, unfollowing).

At the end of the day, Instagram hopes to increase the session duration per user and mitigate spammers in their platform.

FAQ

Why does my link not work on Instagram?

Your link does not work on Instagram because it only allows link in the “Website” field.

Are you allowed to post links on Instagram?

Yes, you are allowed to post links on Instagram.

However, you cannot use “add me” links from Telegram or Snapchat as they are blocked on Instagram.

You’re only able to add one link in your bio on the “website” field.
