Fix You Need A Wia Driver To Use This Device Error On Windows 11/10

Many Windows users while connecting a scanner, printer, or some other device to their Windows computer are receiving the following error:

You need a WIA driver to use this device. Please install it from the installation CD or manufacturer’s website and try again.

This error stops your computer from installing the required driver of a device that you have plugged into it. In this article, we are going to see some of the solutions to fix the error effortlessly.

What is a WIA driver?

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) driver is used by your Operating System to make graphics applications such as Photoshop to communicate with imaging devices such as Printer and Scanner.

If you are getting this WIA driver error message then there must be something wrong with this diver. It can either be outdated, corrupted, or missing.

Fix You need a WIA driver to use this device

If you see “You need a WIA driver to use this device” error message, then the following solutions will help you fix the problem:

Start WIA Service

Update WIA driver

Reinstall WIA driver

Let us talk about them in detail.

1] Start WIA Service

Before concluding that there’s something wrong with the hardware, we should check if the Windows Image Acquisition Service is enabled. To do that, you need to follow these steps.

Launch Services from the Start Menu.

Even if it’s startes, you can restart it and check if that helps.

Now, reboot your computer and check if the issue is fixed.

2] Update WIA driver

If the WIA service on your computer is working fine, try updating WIA and see if it fixes the issue. You can visit your Scanner or Printer manufacturer’s website and download and install the latest driver software from there. Install it and check if the WIA driver issue is fixed.

3] Reinstall WIA driver

If updating didn’t help, try reinstalling WIA driver. This will help if your driver software is corrupted. To uninstall the WIA driver, you can follow the given steps.

Once your driver is uninstall, detach and attach Scanner from the peripherals and check as it will automatically install the required driver.

To do that and check if the issue is fixed.

Some users have asked questions that need to be addressed regarding this error. So, let us answer them.

How do I get WIA driver?

You can easily download WIA Software from the CD/DVD that you get with your Scanner. If for some reason, you don’t have the disk, you can look for the driver for your particular model from the manufacturer’s website.

What is the difference between TWAIN and WIA scanning?

WIA only works on Windows, whereas, TWAIN is built as a universal driver, meant to work on all OS. So, if an imaging device is built for Windows, then only it will use WIA.

They have a different way of doing things, such as WIA uses a common dialog box, whereas, TWAIN uses the one created by the manufacturer.

If you are scanning in Duplux Mode, TWAIN restricts you from using the same setting for both sides, whereas, WIA has no such restrictions.

So, now you know the difference between these two imaging drivers.

Fixed: Vudu Player Is Not Working On Windows 10

FIXED: VUDU Player is not working on Windows 10

Streaming services are at the peak, with a few big players and numerous small but still popular services. And one of the specialized services quite popular in the United States is VUDU, with an amazing selection of movie titles. However, it does have a few issues, as the Windows 10 app is subpar and the web-based player is frequently malfunctioning. We conducted research and provided you with the most common troubleshooting steps in case VUDU player is not working on Windows 10.

How to troubleshoot VUDU player issues on Windows 10 Solution 1 – Clear browser cache

Firstly, double-check your connection and make sure you’re using a wired one. An ethernet connection is always a preferable option over Wi-Fi, especially when streaming.

In addition, disable all VPN/proxy solutions as they seemingly won’t work with VUDU. If you’re from an unsupported area, you’ll hardly be able to use it.

Since there are two ways you can access the VUDU player these days on Windows 10, we decided to tackle both options. This solution, of course, applies to a browser-based player. If you’re experiencing any streaming issues, consider trying them out first.

As any browser tends to pile up a lot of the cache and store it locally. This will, eventually, downgrade the performance. And it’s especially bad when it comes to online streaming.

That’s why we highly recommend clearing the browsing data (with passwords being an exception) and moving on. If you’re not sure how to clear browser’s cache, follow these instructions:

Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox

Microsoft Edge

Solution 2 – Reset the app to factory values

On the other hand, if you’re using the app, the analogous action is to reset it to factory settings. This might help for various reasons, the main one being a corruption of locally cached files. So, prior to reinstalling the VUDU app, try resetting it.

We’re well aware of a plethora of issues this app brings to the table, but if it’s already your first choice, you might as well try and do everything in your power.

Expert tip:

Solution 3 – Rollback Adobe Air

While the VUDU app is certainly bringing a lackluster service, there are still some exterior reasons at play. If VUDU player isnt’ working on Windows 10, the Adobe Air version might be the cause.

Namely, based on reports we collected, it looks like certain versions of Adobe Air won’t work with VUDU player. This suggests that rolling back to an older version might relieve you off of streaming issues.

Here’s what you need to do:

In the Windows Search bar, type Control and open Control Panel.

Choose Uninstall a program.

Uninstall the Adobe Air client.

Navigate here and download an older runtime version of the Adobe Air client.

Install Adobe Air and try streaming with the VUDU player again.

Solution 4 – Reinstall the app

Here’s how to reinstall the VUDU player app:

Solution 5 – Try an alternative browser

If one browser doesn’t work, try a different one. Based on reports, the majority of streaming issues were somewhat related to Microsoft’s browsers — Internet Explorer and Edge. That’s why we suggest trying one of the best browsers for Windows that are both safe and fast.

Solution 6 – Go for SD quality

Finally, if you’re unable to load a certain title in a preferred high resolution (HDX), try downgrading and it should work. We’re aware that this isn’t a solution per se, but some vocal users experienced crashes solely on these settings. And this is something VUDU support needs to look into. Until then, try with lower quality and it just might work.

Have in mind that the official requirements for high-quality streaming are 11 MB/s. If you don’t meet the requirements, chances are the stream won’t start.

Ninite supports a wide range of applications, and by using it, you’ll skip many installation dialogs and unnecessary bundled apps.

Fix: AVG install error 0xc0070643 1. Use a third-party uninstaller

While installing AVG antivirus you can sometimes install AVG PC Tuneup as well, since two applications are often bundled.

If you have AVG install error 0xc0070643, you need to remove AVG PC Tuneup tools from your PC.

To complete the uninstall process, you need to make sure all software leftovers and stubborn apps are removed from your PC. The easiest way to do this is with the help of uninstaller software.

Here’s what a third-party uninstaller can get you:

2. Repair your registry

Users reported that error 0xc0070643 can appear due to problems with your registry.

It seems that there are certain registry permission problems that prevent you from installing AVG.

To fix this problem, you need to download and install a third-party registry cleaner and DLL fixer on your PC.

After problems with the registry are resolved, restart your PC and try to install AVG again.

⇒ Get Restoro

3. Use the AVG Remover tool

If you get installation error 0xc0070643, one of the ways to fix it is to run AVG Remover tool. During the installation process, some AVG files will be stored on your PC.

Those files can interfere with future attempts to install AVG, therefore it’s crucial to remove those files.

To do that, you need to download AVG Remover. Run the tool and wait until it removes the previous installation of AVG.

After the tool removes AVG installation, restart your PC and check if the problem is resolved.

Some users are also suggesting to shut down your PC after you use this tool and turn it back on again, so you might want to try that as well.

Download AVG Reset Access tool

Users are also suggesting downloading AVG Reset Access tool. After downloading the tool, run it and check if the problem is resolved.

Another tool that users are recommending is the AVG BFE Fix tool. Simply download AVG BFE Fix, run it and it should fix the problem.

After using all three tools, AVG install error 0xc0070643 should be resolved. We have to mention that few users reported that this method didn’t work for them.

According to them, the AVG Remover tool didn’t fix the problem, and they were still getting 0xc0070643 description: event exec_finished error while trying to install AVG.

To fix this problem, you need to run AVG Remover from Safe Mode. To do that, follow these steps:

Once the Safe Mode starts, all third-party applications and drivers will be disabled, so there’s nothing that will interfere with the AVG Removal tool.

Simply run the tool and follow the instructions on the screen to remove AVG. After doing that, restart your PC and try to install AVG once again.

4. Download and install the offline version of AVG

If you can’t install AVG antivirus due to error 0xc0070643, you might want to try using the offline installation.

This makes downloading AVG a bit faster since the setup file is only a few MB in size, but this method has its flaws.

If there’s any problem with your Internet connection or with AVG’s servers, your installation might fail, and you’ll get error 0xc0070643.

To avoid this problem, it’s recommended that you try using an offline installer.

This installer is significantly larger in size, and it will take you a couple of minutes more to download the setup file, but you should be able to avoid this error completely by using this method.

You can download the offline installation from AVG’s website or from a reliable third-party source.

Keep in mind that offline installation might be hidden in AVG’s download section, so you’ll need to look carefully for it.

5. Remove AVG entries from the registry

According to users, they were unable to install AVG due to problems in their registry.

Apparently, there are some AVG instances in their registry that can prevent AVG from installing, and in order to fix that, you need to remove those instances manually.

Changing your registry can lead to system instability if you’re not careful, therefore we strongly suggest that you export your registry and use that file as a backup in case anything goes wrong.

To fix AVG install error 0xc0070643, do the following:

2. Registry Editor will now start. In the left pane, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAVG

4. Close Registry Editor.

After closing Registry Editor, try to install AVG again and check if the problem is resolved.

6. Check your permissions

Sometimes error 0xc0070643 can occur if you don’t have the necessary permissions to access the installation folder.

In order to install AVG, SYSTEM needs to have certain privileges. To do that, follow these steps:

Expert tip:

Antivirus tools are necessary if you want to keep your PC protected from malicious users, but it’s usually a bad practice to have multiple antivirus tools or firewalls installed.

Different security tools can sometimes interfere with each other, and in some cases, security tools can even prevent you from installing AVG antivirus.

According to users, AVG install error 0xc0070643 is caused by other antivirus tools, so before you try to install AVG, be sure to disable or uninstall other third-party antivirus or firewall tools.

Users reported that the Comodo firewall was interfering with AVG installation, but keep in mind that almost any third-party tool can cause this problem to appear.

8. Make sure that you have the necessary files

According to users, they were unable to install AVG due to 0xc0070643 description: event exec_finished error message.

This error is caused by missing files related to Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4.

To fix the problem, make sure that you download the necessary files and install them.

Users reported that Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 was causing the problem on their system, but you might have to download a different version for your PC.

All the necessary files are available for download from Microsoft’s website.

9. Make sure that you have enough space on your C drive

Few users reported 0xc0070643 description: event exec_finished error message while installing AVG antivirus, and according to them, this message was caused by the lack of hard drive space.

Users reported that the installation error was resolved after freeing some space on their C drive.

Apparently, you need to have more than 4GB of free storage space on your C drive before you can install AVG on your PC.

We have to mention that AVG doesn’t take 4GB of storage space, but it requires this space to be available on your C drive in order to work properly.

10. Change Antivirus

In case you’ve tried out all of the solutions, yet nothing seemed to help, there’s always the option of changing AVG Antivirus with an entirely new antivirus tool.

That being said, know that the market is full of such tools, some of which offer a free version, or even a free trial with full capabilities for you to test out.

ESET Internet Security is among our top recommendations because it offers real-time protection on all fronts while being lightweight. It is easy to use and has one of the highest detection rates, plus it offers tons of useful features such as online payment support, parental controls, and webcam protection.

Hid Compliant Pen Driver Is Missing On Windows 11/10

If for some reason, you find that your digital pen is not working on Windows 11/10 computer, the problem may be associated with the HID-Compliant Pen driver. In most cases, the driver gets corrupted and the Device Manager shows a yellow warning icon on the driver. But sometimes, the driver becomes missing from the Device Manager. In this article, we will see what you should do if HID Compliant Pen driver is missing on your Windows 11/10 computer.

HID Compliant Pen driver is missing on Windows 11/10

When you connect a hardware device to your Windows 11/10 computer, Windows first installs its driver. After the successful installation of the driver, you will be able to use that device. You can view the drivers for all the devices in the Device Manager. The HID device drivers are available under the Human Interface Devices branch. If you notice that the HID Compliant Pen driver is missing on your Windows 11/10 PC, the solutions provided below will help you resolve the issue.

Install the latest Windows Update

Uninstall the Intel(R) Precise Touch Device driver

Check hidden devices

Install the driver from the manufacturer’s website

Restore your System

HID or Human Interface Devices are the devices that allow users to interact directly with a computer. When you expand the Human Interface Devices branch in the Device Manager on a Windows computer, you will find different drivers for different HIDs. For example, for Windows touchscreen PCs, the HID-compliant touchscreen driver is required. Both HID-compliant pen and HID-compliant touchscreen drivers are different as the former is required to operate a digital pen and the latter is required for the proper functioning of the touchscreen.

Let’s see all these fixes in detail.

1] Install the latest Windows Update

Microsoft recommends users keep their systems up to date because it provides them with the latest features and installs the latest security patches on their systems. Windows Update also fixes outdated and corrupted device drivers. Your digital pen is not working because the HID Compliant Pen driver is missing from the Device Manager. Therefore, we suggest you check for Windows Update and install the same if it is available.

2] Uninstall the Intel(R) Precise Touch Device driver 3] Check hidden devices

Sometimes, multiple instances of the driver for the same device get installed on Windows 11/10. This may create a conflict and the respective device stops working. It is possible that multiple instances of HID-Compliant Pen driver have been installed on your system. In some cases, multiple instances can be viewed easily in the Device manager, whereas in some cases, multiple instances become visible after enabling the hidden devices.

Follow the steps written below:

Open the Device Manager.

If you see the HID-Compliant Pen drivers, uninstall them.

Restart your computer and connect your digital pen again. Windows will install the driver for your digital pen and it will start working again.

4] Install the driver from the manufacturer’s website

If the above fixes did not help, you have to download the driver from the manufacturer’s official website and then install it manually. Visit the manufacturer’s website, enter the model number of your product, and download the driver. If the installer is in Zip format, extract it, then open the respective folder. Now, run the installer file to install the driver manually.

You can follow this method to download the driver of any device. For example, if you want to reinstall the HID-Compliant touch screen on Windows 11, download its driver from the manufacturer’s website and then install it manually. But first, uninstall the currently installed driver.

If the driver is downloaded in INF format, you can install it by using the Device Manager.

5] Restore your System

System Restore is a tool that helps you fix the issues on your Windows computer by taking it back to its previous working state. By default, it is turned on on every Windows device. When it is turned on, it creates restore points automatically. These restore points are used to restore the system to the previous working state.

If the problem has started recently and the system restore point is created on your system, you can easily fix the issue. Before performing the system restore, you can view all the restore points created on your system and select any of them according to the date on which they were created. Restore your system by selecting the restore point that was created before the problem started occurring on your computer.

This should help.
