How to download, install, and use Safari extensions on iPhone

Before you begin, make sure you are running iOS 15 or later. After that, follow these steps to get and use Safari extensions on iPhone.

Open the Settings app and tap Safari.

Tap GET to download a Safari extension.

Optional: Open the extension from the iPhone Home Screen. It looks just like a regular app. Configure its settings if applicable.

Open Safari, and you should see an extension icon in the address bar. Tap it to use the extension.

Note that, if you installed a content blocker extension, you may not see the extensions icon. To use content blockers, tap AA and choose Turn on Content Blockers or Turn off Content Blockers.

How to change Safari extension permission on iPhone

When you use a Safari extension for the first time, it may show a popup asking permission to work on that particular web page. You can allow for one day, always allow, or don’t allow. Later, you can manage this by following these steps.

Open Settings and tap Safari.

Tap Extensions.

Tap the extension name.

Under Permissions for “extension name”, tap an option to change it.

How to disable a Safari extension on iPhone

Want to stop using an extension (but not want to delete it)? Here’s how to do that.

Open Settings and tap Safari.

Tap Extensions.

Turn off the switch for the desired extension or content blocker here.

If you change your mind, follow the same steps to re-enable it.

You may also do this inside the Safari app by following these steps.

Open Safari and tap the extensions icon or AA from the address bar.

Tap Manage Extensions.

Disable (or enable) the extensions here.

Finally, tap Done.

How to uninstall and remove Safari extensions on iPhone

Removing a Safari extension is the same as deleting any regular iOS app. Here’s how.

Long-press the Safari extension icon from the Home Screen or App Library.

Restart your iPhone.

3 Safari extensions I love using on my iPhone

Currently, the Safari Extensions section in the App Store is full of ad blockers, content blockers, adult site blockers, and such. There aren’t many useful extensions. But here are three that I have installed and use frequently.

1. PiPifier

I like listening to long debates and podcasts like videos and documentaries on YouTube in Safari. Annoyingly, YouTube does not support Picture-in-Picture. (I mean, it does, then stops, then does. As of writing this, it does not support PiP in Safari on iPhone running iOS 15.0.2.)

This is where a tiny 1 MB extension called PiPifier comes in. It lets you enjoy videos in Picture-in-Picture mode, even on websites that do not support it, like YouTube. Overall this is my favorite iOS 15 Safari extension. Super handy!

Note: YouTube is testing PiP in its iOS app for premium subscribers.

2. Turn Off the Lights

Not all websites have the toggle to enable Dark Mode or support system Dark Mode. On these sites, enabling this extension can be comfortable during the night.

Plus, if you are watching something on YouTube in Safari, Turn Off the Lights will keep the video in focus and dim everything else. It looks pretty nice.

3. AdGuard

How To Install Intel Cpu On Motherboard Safely

Intel uses various types of Land Grid Array (LGA) sockets for its processors. So before you even buy the CPU and motherboard, it’s important to check that they are compatible with each other.

For instance, the i9-12900K processor is compatible with an LGA 1700 socket type. So, if you tried to install this processor onto an old motherboard with an LGA 1150 socket, it wouldn’t work out.

Assuming there are no compatibility issues, installing an Intel CPU is quite simple. You release the locking mechanism, correctly align and gently drop the CPU into the socket, and lock it back in place. You’ll find step-by-step instructions to do so in the sections below.

While you can keep the motherboard in the case, most people prefer to take it out as it’s much easier to work with that way. Unless the motherboard is brand new, you’ll also have to detach the CPU cooler. Here are the steps to do so:

Turn off your PC, unplug all the power cables, and move the case to a clean workspace such as a desk.

It’s important to pay attention to static charge to ensure you don’t damage any components. We recommend using an anti-static wrist band. Alternatively, you can also routinely touch your PC case to discharge any built-up static electricity.

Open the PC casing and remove the screws and cables holding the CPU cooler in place.

Gently lift up the CPU cooler to remove it from the motherboard. If you twist/turn and apply too much force, you could pull the CPU out along with the cooler and damage the pins in the process. So once again, don’t be too rough here.

Unscrew the motherboard and remove all the cables as well.

Take the motherboard out of the case and place it flat on the desk. If you have the motherboard packaging box, it’s better to use it as a cushion.

This is the actual installation part. Here are the complete steps:

Locate the CPU on the motherboard. Push down on the retention arm, pull it to the side, and then lift it up.

You should be able to lift up the load plate now. On new motherboards, you would also find a black socket cover.

Grab the processor by the sides and carefully lift it straight up and out.

Grab the new processor by the sides as well. This is important so that you don’t touch the gold-plated caps at the bottom.

Check the markings (triangle or dot) and notches on both the CPU and the socket for the correct alignment.

Once you’ve aligned the CPU correctly, gently place it into the socket. Try not to drop it at an angle. It should fit right in place without applying any pressure.

Pull the load plate back down, and set the retention arm back in place to lock the CPU down. Most users have found that they had to apply more force than they expected or were comfortable with when locking the new CPU in place. A faint creaking or crunching sound is also common. Finally, the black socket cover in new motherboards will also pop out during this step. Remember to store this cover safely as you may need it for warranty purposes.

Now that you’ve installed the new CPU, all that’s left is to reattach the cooler, motherboard, and everything else and test how well the new CPU works. Here are the steps to do so:

If the CPU you just installed isn’t brand new, you’ll want to clean the CPU first. Apply some isopropyl alcohol to a microfiber cloth and carefully remove the old thermal paste off the IHS. Once it’s clean, let the processor dry for a few hours.

Later, reapply a pea-sized amount of thermal paste onto the center of the IHS. If you’d prefer to use another method or pattern to apply the thermal paste, that’s fine too.

Grab the CPU cooler and align the mounting pins with the holes on the motherboard.

Drop it in place and push down on two diagonally opposing pins to lock them in place. Repeat this for the other two pins as well.

Grab the fan plug and connect it to the CPU Fan header on the motherboard.

Reconnect all the cables to the motherboard and place it back in the case.

Power up your PC and press the BIOS key at startup to boot into the BIOS.

Check that all the memory modules are showing up. If a RAM slot isn’t working or your PC doesn’t boot properly, this is likely because some of the pins are not making proper contact. This can happen sometimes, and you can fix this issue by reseating the CPU, essentially repeating the process again. In the event that you actually bent some of the pins, repairing will be a bit more difficult. It’s best to leave the repair job to a professional, but if you’d like to do it yourself, this article on repairing bent CPU pins will be helpful.

If everything seems fine, restart your PC and enjoy your new processor.

Right after installing it into the socket, you’ll want to apply some thermal paste and install the CPU cooler on top. We’ve detailed the steps to do so in the article above. As for what to do after the whole process is complete, most users like to use benchmarking tools to see how well their system performs. Overclocking the CPU usually follows soon after.

Most likely, the CPU pins are not making contact or are bent. In such cases, you can reseat the CPU or fix the bent pins as appropriate. Another common reason for this issue is that the BIOS isn’t compatible with the CPU. In this case, you can update the BIOS to the latest version. Newer versions usually support newer processors, so this should resolve the issue.

How To Get Text From Pdf On Iphone And Ipad With Ios 15

Apple has announced a bunch of changes coming to iPhones via the iOS 15 update with improvements to FaceTime, Safari, Find My, Photos, Spotlight, Notifications, and Weather. One feature everyone’s excited about is ‘Live Text‘ – an option that recognizes texts, handwritten notes, numbers, and more from Photos or through the Camera app and lets you paste that information on any other app.

However, if you’re dealing with PDFs and want to extract text from them, how would you be doing it? That’s what we’re going to explain in this post.

Method #01: Drag through texts on PDF

The easiest way to extract texts from PDF is to just copy it as you would on any other app with text. To do this, open the PDF file you want to extract text from, then tap and hold anywhere on the PDF and start dragging through the text portion you want to copy.

Once all of the text is selected, you should see a bunch of options at the top. You can copy the selected text by tapping on the ‘Copy’ option above your selection.

The text will now be copied onto your clipboard and you can paste them on Notes, Messages, or any other app you use to save the copied text.

Now using your other hand/fingers, go to the Home Screen or Recent Apps to open the app you want to paste it to. Inside the app, choose a location to paste the copied text to and drop the dragged item by lifting up your finger.

This will make your job much easier if you deal with a bunch of PDFs or text files regularly.

Method #2: Drag and copy to a new .TXT file

iOS 15 doesn’t just let you drag and drop stuff between different apps, you can also move certain elements from within the same app. One application of this is using the drag and drop functionality to drag texts directly from a PDF file that’s open on the Files app and drop the selected text on some other location inside the Files app. When you use this method, iOS doesn’t copy the text onto your clipboard but creates a new file inside Files.

To get started, open the PDF file you want to extract text from, then tap and hold anywhere on the PDF and start dragging through the text portion you want to copy.

Once all of the text is selected, tap and hold on the selected and start dragging it around. Do not lift up the finger that you’re dragging the text with. Now using your other hand/fingers, tap on the ‘Done’ button at the top left corner of the screen.

When you do, the PDF will now close and you will see the folder where the PDF file was located within the Files app. Now, go to the location you want the text file to be created. When you arrive at the location you want the dragged text to appear, drop the dragged item by lifting up your finger.

You will now see a new text file appear inside the folder. This file will have all the contents you copied from the PDF file and will be saved in “.TXT” format.

Method #03: Use ‘Get Text from PDF’ Shortcut

If you wish to copy the entire text portion from a PDF file, you may find it tiring to open a file and then drag through all the texts inside it, especially if the document is several pages long. In these situations, you can use the Shortcuts app on iOS to save all text from a PDF document in just a few taps. We’re using the ‘Get Text from PDF’ action inside the Shortcuts app to get this done. Follow the steps below to set up the shortcut on your iPhone and use it for a PDF file you want to extract text from.

To get started, open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.

When the app is open, tap on the ‘+’ icon at the top right corner.

This should create a new Shortcut. On this screen, select the ‘Add Action’ option at the top.

A popup should appear with a bunch of options available. At the top of this popup, tap on the search field and enter “PDF”. In the search results, tap on the ‘Get Text from PDF’ option under ‘Documents’.

You will be taken back to the Shortcut creation screen. Here, enter a name for the shortcut at the top.

Your shortcut is now ready. You can start using it by tapping on the ‘Document’ section inside the ‘Get Text from PDF’ action box.

You will now be prompted with a dialog. In this dialog, select ‘Choose’.

On the next screen, locate and select the PDF document you want to extract text from.

Once the selected PDF file has been opened inside your Shortcut, tap the Play icon at the bottom right corner.

You should now be able to see a preview text from the PDF document you selected. You can enlarge this preview by tapping the Expand icon (two arrows facing opposite sides) at the bottom right corner of this preview.

The next screen will show all the text that has been extracted from the PDF file. You can copy this text by tapping the Share icon at the top right corner.

When the Share Sheet appears, select the ‘Copy’ option to copy the text into your clipboard.

You can also save the copied text on your device in Text Document format by tapping the ‘Save to Files’ option or share it across other apps on your iPhone.

You don’t have to repeat all these steps for extracting texts from another PDF, you simply have to tap on the file name inside the ‘Get Text from PDF’ action and select a new file to extract text from.

That’s all you need to know about extracting texts from PDFs on iOS.

How To Clean Install Any Version Of Ios Or Ipados On Iphone And Ipad

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is slowing down, performing a clean install of iOS or iPadOS might help speed it up. A fresh system software installation means you begin with zero third-party App Store apps, broken configurations, and corrupt settings, which could positively impact performance. A clean install can also fix problems you can’t resolve with standard troubleshooting.

You’ve got a couple of ways to clean install iOS and iPadOS. The first method involves erasing all content and settings using nothing but your iPhone or iPad, while the second method requires reinstalling the system software via a Mac or PC.

Table of Contents

Clean installing iOS or iPadOS will erase your data, but you can always choose to create a backup of your files and settings beforehand. It’s then up to you to start all over from scratch or restore a backup and pick up where you left off.

Erase All Content and Settings

The iPhone and iPad feature an integrated “Erase This iPhone/iPad” tool that lets you quickly reset the device to factory defaults. It takes care of everything from creating a backup of your data to iCloud, deactivating Find My and Activation Lock, to wiping every bit of personal data off your device.

The “Erase This iPhone/iPad” tool doesn’t technically reinstall iOS or iPadOS, but the procedure does restore the system software to a state similar to what you get from an iPhone or iPad right out of the box. It’s also considerably faster and more convenient than performing a restore via a Mac or PC.

1. Open the Settings app via the Home Screen on your iPhone or iPad.

3. Select Continue.

4. Enter the device passcode of your iOS or iPadOS device.

5. Select Finish Upload Then Erase to upload a copy of your data to iCloud. If you lack space in iCloud, create an offline backup via a Mac or PC. If you don’t want to create a backup, select Erase Now.

Warning: If you don’t create a backup, you’ll permanently lose all data except for any that sync actively to iCloud—such as your photos, notes, and contacts.

6. Enter your Apple ID’s password and tap Turn Off to deactivate Find My and Activation Lock. You won’t see this screen if Find My is not active on your iPhone or iPad.

7. Tap Erase iPhone/iPad to confirm you want to erase all media, data, and settings on your iPhone or iPad. Then, wait until the “Erase This iPhone/iPad” tool resets the device to factory defaults. That can take anywhere between 10-15 minutes.

Work your way through the Setup Assistant to set up your iPhone or iPad after the reset procedure. Once you get to the Apps & Data screen, select Restore from iCloud Backup or Restore from Mac or PC to restore from a backup. Or, select Don’t Transfer Apps & Data to begin using your iPhone or iPad as a new device.

Restore Device via Finder/iTunes

If you have access to a Mac or PC, you can perform an actual clean install of iOS or iPadOS using Finder or iTunes. Follow the steps below to disable Find My and Activation Lock, back up your iPhone or iPad, and reinstall the latest version of iOS/iPadOS using an IPSW (iPhone/iPad Software) file. This method is best suited if you have trouble using the “Erase This iPhone/iPad” tool above.

Note: If you use a Windows PC, make sure to download iTunes from the Microsoft Store or the Apple website before you begin.

2. Turn off the switch next to Find My iPhone/iPad and enter your Apple ID password to authenticate the action.

3. Connect your iPhone or iPad to a Mac or PC via USB. Then, unlock your iOS or iPadOS device and tap Trust.

4. Launch a new Finder window (if you use a Mac with macOS Catalina or later) or open iTunes. Then, select your iPhone or iPad on the Finder sidebar or the top-left of the iTunes window.

5. Scroll down to the Backups section. Then, select Back up all of the data on your iPhone/iPad to this Mac/PC. If you want to back up Apple Watch health data and passwords, check the box next to Encrypt local backup. Then, select Back Up Now.

6. Wait until Finder/iTunes finishes backing up the data on your iOS/iPadOS device.

7. Scroll up to the Software section and select Restore iPhone/iPad.

8. Select Restore and Update.

9. Select Agree to accept the software update license terms.

After reinstalling iOS or iPadOS, select Restore from this backup and pick a backup to restore your data. Or, choose Set up as new iPhone/iPad to begin using your iPhone or iPad as a new device.

Try Recovery Mode or DFU Mode

In most cases, simply restoring iOS or iPadOS to factory defaults should be more than enough to breathe new life into your iPhone or iPad or resolve persistent software-related issues. If that doesn’t help, use a Mac or PC to reinstall the system software.

How To Use Bing Ai Search In Chrome, Firefox, And Safari

At the moment, it seems like Microsoft doesn’t have plans to introduce Bing AI search on another web browser. This is because it motivates more users to try out Edge and also gives them the incentive to continue using it.

But there are workarounds to help you access the Bing AI chatbot on other web browsers. Just make sure you fulfill the following prerequisites first.

Join the Bing AI Waitlist.

Access to Bing AI Search on Microsoft Edge.

Now we can move on to how to use Bing AI on other web browsers. Let us take a look at the steps for each web browser individually.

Even though Chrome is also based on Chromium, the same as Microsoft Edge, there is no straightforward method to use AI features in Bing search. But developers have already come up with an extension that lets you enjoy Bing AI on Google Chrome. Here is how it works.

Step 1: Download the Bing Chat for All Browsers extension from Chrome Web Store.

Step 2: Visit chúng tôi on Chrome.

Step 3: Sign in to the Microsoft account that you have used to join the waitlist.

This will take you to the Bing AI chat section where you can interact and ask queries to Bing’s new AI chatbot.

Like Chrome, Bing Chat for All Browsers is also available as an add-on in Firefox. One thing to remember is that the extension will not help you jump the queue on the waitlist. With all that said, below are the steps to use Bing AI search on Firefox.

Step 1: Download the Bing Chat for All Browsers extension from Firefox Add-ons.

Step 3: Type a query and search for it on Bing.

Step 4: Select the Chat option on the results page.

Now you can use the Chat features that are available with Bing search.

There is no way to access Bing AI on Safari besides the official method and waiting on Microsoft to make it available for the browser. As an alternative, you can use Edge, but if you strictly prefer using Safari, here are a couple of tips that can help you access the Bing AI faster on Safari.

Step 3: Go to Preferences…

Now you just have to wait and keep trying Bing till you get access to use the AI features.

Since both Edge and Bing are products of Microsoft, it wants to create exclusivity for the time being. We might see Bing AI Chat feature rolling out to other web browsers later down the line.

No. even if you have access to use Bing AI search on Edge, you still cannot use it on other web browsers, including Firefox, without the Bing Chat for All browsers extension.

This brings us to the end of this article. I hope Microsoft brings the AI prowess of Bing to other web browsers soon. But till then, you can use the method above to try out the new Bing AI search. Do let us know if you have any queries related to the article, and stay tuned on BrowserToUse for more such articles and How-Tos.

How To Fix Safari Not Downloading Files On Iphone, Ipad, And Mac

You may, at times, encounter an issue where Safari refuses to download photos, videos, audio, PDFs, documents, and other files from a website. In this article, we’ll explore common reasons why Safari may not be downloading files on iPhone, iPad, or Mac and provide solutions to help you get back to downloading with ease.

The issues you may be facing

File download starts, but it fails immediately in a second or two.

The download happens up to a point and then fails midway or just before completing.

The solutions below should help fix all the above issues and also ones similar to them.

Before you begin

It’s possible that you’re not following the right steps to download the file. On Mac, it’s super easy, but on iPhone and iPad, downloading files may not be as obvious. With that said, even if the file has been downloaded, you may not know where it’s saved and how to find it. So, look at these tutorials, if needed:

Retry the download

Pause and resume the download

The download may look like it has started, but it will pause or fail in a few seconds. If that happens, hit the tiny retry button a few times, and it should start the download. If not, hit the download link again on the website.

Check your internet

Make sure your iPhone, iPad, or Mac is connected to a stable Wi-Fi, Cellular Data, or Ethernet connection and the internet is working properly.

Some useful tips

Turn off VPN if you’re using one.

Restart your Wi-Fi router.

Troubleshooting internet problems

Allow the website to download files

When you try to download a file from a website for the first time, it doesn’t start immediately. Instead, you will see an alert asking your permission to allow this site to download and save files locally or not. Make sure you allow that. If you choose to block the download, follow these steps to fix it:

On iPhone and iPad: Hit the download link again on the website and tap Allow or Download when asked. If you don’t see the Allow button, clear your browser data.

Force Quit and reopen Safari

On iPhone and iPad: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold or double-press the Home button to enter App Switcher. From here, drag the Safari app card all the way up to close it.

Now reopen Safari and try downloading the file again.

You may see more than one download link on a website. If one link fails to work, try the other one. Note: Sometimes, picking a different download quality (for a video, audio, or image) should do the trick.

Set Safari download location to anything other than iCloud Drive

If you have set Safari to download files to iCloud Drive, switch it to any other local storage folder using the steps below:

Stop Safari from automatically opening files after download

Restart your device

If Safari is unable to download files due to minor glitches, save your work and do a restart.

Make sure your device has sufficient free space

Clear Safari history and cache

One of the most reliable solutions to fix Safari issues is clearing its history and website data.

Try disabling a recently installed Safari extension

If you could download files earlier but can’t after installing an extension, then that extension is likely the culprit. Remove it, restart your device, and now you should have no problem downloading files.

On iPhone and iPad: Head over to this guide on installing and removing Safari extensions.

On Mac, you can update Safari from System Settings.

If you’re on an older version of macOS, consider updating to the latest version, which should improve your computer’s overall working and stability.

Update the detailed information about How To Safely Install And Use Safari Extensions On Iphone In Ios 15 on the website. We hope the article's content will meet your needs, and we will regularly update the information to provide you with the fastest and most accurate information. Have a great day!
