Samsung users using Android 10 or newer versions can easily record the screen. But, according to Samsung, they have only made this feature available to selected models. So, you need to check their supported devices list and find out if your device supports a screen recording feature.

Swipe down from the Top, and Swipe down again to see more shortcuts.

Before you start recording, you will see the options related to sound settings.

Record audio: Tap on the recorded audio and it has the option to record the audio from only your device, microphone, or both.

Once you tap on it, it will immediately start recording the screen.

If your phone doesn’t have an in-built screen recording feature, you can use third-party apps to record the screen. There are tons of apps you can install for free from the play store.

Some popular apps are AZ Screen recorder, ADV screen recorder, Mobizen screen recorder, etc. But, before you can start using the apps you are required to agree to the terms and conditions.

There are several instances when you need to change your screen recording settings. Most android manufacturers have the same steps to reach the screen recording settings but inside settings and features may differ. As a reference, we have shown the steps using a Samsung phone.

Open the Control panel.

Tap and hold the Screen recorder for a couple of seconds.

This is also something that is possible to do using SCRCPY, which a lot of people aren’t away of. Simply fire up SCRCPY and start screen mirroring to your Windows PC while screen recording your phone at the exact same time. You can even choose the output file you want to use. Either MP4 or MKV.

So how exactly do you screen record using SCRCPY? Well, it’s an easy process but one that most people will find intimidating at first. However, once you have done it a couple of times, it’s the easiest thing in the world. Especially if you set up a batch file for SCRCPY to do everything automatically.

How do you screen record using SCRCPY? How to screen record and Mirror using SCRCPY.

In order to screen record using SCRCPY while screen mirroring you’ll need to do the following.

Once the Command window is open, you’ll need to point Command prompt to the folder you have SCRCPY in.

To do this type cd then a space into the command window, then enter the exact location of the SCRCPY folder into Command prompt and press Enter. For me, the command looks like the example below. However, for you, it will more than likely be C: something:

Note: If you have your SCRCPY folder on a different drive, not C: you’ll need to change the drive location first. To do this simply type the drive letter followed by a colon ( : ) and press Enter. It should look like this D: If you get stuck there is a video in the SCRCPY Playlist that shows you this process.

Now that Command Prompt is pointing to the correct location, you can enter or copy and paste one of the following commands into the command window and press Enter.

To record in MP4 Format: scrcpy –record=file.mp4

How To Record A Call On Iphone And Android

Being able to record a call may come in handy in a number of situations. Perhaps you’re interviewing someone over the phone or on a work call and want to ensure that you can remember everything that is being discussed. Depending on whether you’re using an iOS or Android device, you have several options available to you. This post details how to start recording your phone calls whether you’re using an iPhone or Android.

Tip: is your iPhone not ringing when you’re getting a call? We show you what to do to fix this annoying issue.

Is It Legal to Record Phone Calls?

Before we dive into the nitty-gritty of recording phone calls, we need to first talk about the legal aspect. In the U.S., different states have varying laws when it comes to recording phone calls. The same applies to European countries and beyond. You can visit this Wiki page to verify a country’s policy.

In the U.S., for example, most states require at least one party consent to the recording for it to be considered legal. However, states like California, Florida, and Washington require that all participating parties be informed of the recording.

In Europe, things are a bit more liberal. For instance, Italy considers recorded conversations legal and even allows them to be used as evidence in court (even if the other party was unaware they were being recorded), provided that the recording party is part of the conversation.

In the U.K., on the other hand, a recording made by one party without notifying the other is not prohibited if the recording is for personal use. Recording without notification is prohibited, however, if the conversation is then made available to a third party.

Beyond what these laws actually state in your region, you should be mindful that a person’s right to privacy can be severely impacted if their calls are recorded without their express permission. As a result, we encourage you to ask for permission every time you want to record a call. If nothing else, this etiquette will help you avoid any unwanted legal issues. Let’s take a look at how you can get started recording phone calls that are made through a carrier.

How to Record a Phone Call on iPhone

Apple takes your privacy very seriously; hence, it won’t allow you to record phone calls using any native features. The company blocks recording through an iPhone’s built-in microphone if the handset is actively in a call using its own software. This means that despite your iPhone having a native recording app (Voice memos app) you won’t be able to press “Record” while you’re speaking to someone over the phone. Instead, you’ll need to resort to a few workarounds, which are detailed below.

Tip: just downloaded a file on your iPhone or iPad and can’t find it? Here’s where to look.

1. Use Another Phone to Record the Call

The easiest solution if you have another phone (even an older phone would do) laying around the house, is to use it to record the call. It doesn’t matter if it’s an iPhone or Android device. The important thing is that it has a recording app on board. Most phones, including Android devices, come with one preinstalled. If yours doesn’t have one, for some reason, you can easily download one from the App Store or Google Play Store. A few examples of these apps include:

Recorder Plus (iOS)

Rev Voice Recorder & Memos (iOS)

Hi-Q MP3 Voice Recorder (Android)

Smart Voice Recorder (Android)

Begin the Recording

Open the Voice Memos app on your recorder phone.

Start or receive a call on your other iOS device. Put the phone on “speaker.”

Once the other person starts speaking about the subject you’re interested in, make sure you press the red “Record” button in the Voice Memos app to start your recording – but not before informing the other person that you’re going to be recording them.

Make sure the phone that acts as the recorder is placed in the near vicinity of the phone involved in the call. Also, the phone you’re using for the call should have the volume turned up to the maximum (if that’s possible). This will ensure you get a better quality recording.

Once you’re done recording, press the red button once again. The file will be saved to your iPhone, and you can access it from the app. Tap on it to have it start the playback. You can also share it from there or edit it.

2. Use Google Voice

Google Voice is another alternative when it comes to recording phone calls from your iPhone. Unfortunately, the service is only officially available in the United States and Canada or for people who already have a U.S. phone number. If you meet the requirements, download the iOS app and sign up for an account.

Open the Google Voice app on your iOS device.

At the top, tap the hamburger menu and select “Settings.”

Under Calls, you will see “Incoming calls options.” Make sure the toggle next to it is on.

If it is, you’ll notice some information underneath. You’ll be instructed to press “4” to start recording calls.

Wait for the call to come in and answer it.

Once you press “4,” all participants in the call will hear an announcement alerting them that the call is being recorded.

To end the recording, press “4” once again. Participants will once again hear an announcement. By the way, hanging up the call also cancels the recording.

The resulting recordings can be found in the Voicemail tab.

Good to know: need an email solely dedicated to signing up for apps that you’re not sure you’ll be using again? Check out these disposable email services.

3. Try a Third-Party iOS App

Apple is quite restrictive when it comes to call recording apps, not allowing many in the App Store. Even so, you can still find quite a few of them. The trouble is, most of them are paid apps. Fortunately, Rev Call Recorder is an app that works for free and is fully functional.

Download the app on your phone.

Open it and verify your current phone number.

Once you’re all set, press the “Call” button at the bottom of the display.

Enter the number of the person you wish to call.

Press the “Call [number]” button, and the recording should start automatically.

Both parties involved in the call will hear an announcement saying the call is being recorded.

To end the recording, simply hang up as you would normally do.

4. Use a Dedicated Call Recorder

An interesting alternative for mobile users is using a call recorder device, such as the RecorderGear PR200. This device can wirelessly record both sides of the conversation on Bluetooth-compatible Android or iOS devices.

How to Record a Phone Call on Android

Recording a phone call on Android has the potential to be easier, but only in some regions, as Google offers a native feature in this respect. For the rest of us, most of the options detailed in the iPhone section also work on Android, meaning recording the call using another phone (iOS or Android), Google Voice, and a dedicated call recorder device. Below we look at the Android-specific methods.

1. Use Google’s Own Phone App

On some Android phones, this app might already be preinstalled, but if not, you can download it from the Play Store. However, keep in mind that this feature is only available in certain regions of the world, and your carrier must also support the feature for you to use it. Also, your device needs to be on Android 9 or higher.

You can check whether you have this feature by opening the Google Phone app and tapping on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.

Select “Settings.”

Go to “Call Recording.” If you don’t see it, it probably means your phone does not support this feature.

You’ll now have to answer a series of questions regarding which calls will be recorded. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen and select “Always record.”

Once you’ve done this, go back to the Phone app and try calling someone.

Look at the display during the call. You should see a “Record” button among the options. Tap on it to start recording.

Once you’re done, tap the “Stop Recording” button again to stop the recording.

2. With a Third-Party Android App

Like Apple, Google doesn’t like call recording apps, but even so, some have still made it to the Play Store. Call Recorder – Cube ACR, for instance, is a free app that can help you record calls without much fuss.

Open the app on your phone and give the necessary permissions as required.

Make or receive a call.

The app will automatically start recording. You’ll see a small notification at the top of the screen that the app is active and recording.

Once you’re done, just hang up, and the recording will be terminated.

The file will be available in the app where you can play it back. You can also easily share it via social or mail apps.

Tip: unclutter your Android agenda and learn how to organize your contacts.

Frequently Asked Questions How do I know my call is being recorded?

Some of the apps and services included on this list will notify both parties that the call is being recorded automatically. That might not always be the case, though. If you hear a constantly beeping sound during a call or a loud beep at the start of the call, it could be a sign that your call is being recorded. Remember that in some countries or states, recording without informing the other party is considered illegal, so it may be a good idea to always ask for permission regardless of the method you are using to record the call.

How can I stop my calls from being recorded?

Unfortunately, there’s no technical solution that could prevent your calls from being recorded. The best you can do is to pay attention to the signs, such as strange beeps during the calls or other noises. If you feel there’s something off about the conversation, hang up immediately and try to limit interactions with the person in question going forward.

Can I use my phone’s screen recording feature to record a call?

While on an iPhone, you can screen record with the sound on, but the moment a call comes through, screen recording will automatically turn off. On the latest version of Android, while it’s possible to screen record with microphone and device sound enabled, you will only be able to record your side of the conversation. If you never recorded your screen on an Android, check out our dedicated guide on the topic.

How To Reset The Home Screen On Your Android Device

Resetting the home screen of your Android phone can help make your phone look fresh and like new. It can also help sort out an issue you’ve been having with your home screen. If you’re troubleshooting your Android’s home screen, it’s also helpful to reset the home screen layout to make it easier to see the problem.

In this article, you’ll learn how to reset the home screen layout to factory default on your Android device and remove individual app icons and widgets from your Android home screen.

Table of Contents

Things to Know Before Resetting the Home Screen on Android

Resetting the home screen layout removes all app icons and widgets from your home screen and restores it to the original look. If you want to bring your Android home screen to its original form, resetting it to the factory default is the way to go. However, if you’re just trying to troubleshoot an issue with your home screen or need a clean screen to take a screenshot of it, resetting it should be your last resort.

You can try a couple of things before resetting your home screen. You can try changing the home screen settings, like changing the home screen grid size, removing and adding app icons back to your home screen, and removing individual widgets.

If you need to declutter your home screen, you can create a new folder and move all of the Android app icons into that folder to keep them hidden and to make some space on your home screen.

Finally, if nothing else works and you’re still experiencing problems, then go ahead and restore the default home screen on your Android device.

How to Reset Home Screen Layout on Android

If you’ve experimented with different Android launchers to customize your home screen layout, your screen probably looks very different from how it was before.

Every Android phone comes with a different launcher. Before you can perform a factory reset and bring your home screen back to its default settings, you need to find out the name of the default launcher and then clear its data.

To find the name of your phone’s default launcher, follow the steps below.

Open the

The method from above may not work if your phone runs an older version than Android 10. If that’s the case with your Android device, you can reset the home screen layout by clearing the Google app’s data. Here’s how to do that:

Select the option to

Clear launcher data

Samsung phones like Samsung Galaxy don’t have a built-in feature to reset the home screen layout. However, you can get the same results by clearing the data of the Samsung launcher. To do that, you’ll need to choose One UI Home or Samsung Experience Home from the list of apps and then follow the same steps to clear data.

After that, your home screen should look the same as when you just got the new phone.

How to Remove App Icons on Android Home Screen

Is your Android home screen messy because you have too many app icons? In that case, you don’t have to reset your home screen layout. Instead, you can just remove the unnecessary home screen icons to make space for new apps. Here’s how you can do it:

On your Android phone, select the

home button

to return to your home screen.

Find the app icon that you’d like to remove. Press and hold it.

You’ll see the

This will also remove the app from your phone. If you don’t want that to happen, you can create a new folder on your home screen and drag and drop the app icons there to keep them hidden from the main screen.

If the issue with your home screen involves missing app icons, you can try restoring them from the App Drawer. To do that, swipe up on your phone to open the App Drawer, find the app in question, then drag the app to place it on your home screen.

How to Reset Widgets on Your Android Phone

Widgets can be very useful, but they can also clutter your home screen if you’ve got too many of them. You can remove some or all widgets from your home screen to make it look tidier. You can then add them back at any time if you change your mind.

To remove widgets from your Android home screen, follow the steps below.

Go to your home screen and find the widget you want to remove.

Press and hold the widget.

The widget in question will then disappear from your screen. To add a widget, press and hold anywhere on your home screen and select Widgets from the menu at the bottom.

Keep Your Android Home Screen Clean and Organized

As you use your phone, you’ll keep adding apps and widgets to your home screen. If you want to keep that space clean and organized, there are a few strategies that you may want to follow:

Organize your home screen layout

. To tidy up your screen, tap and hold anywhere on it, then go through the home screen layout settings one by one: Wallpapers, Icons, Widgets, etc., to adjust everything to your liking.

Only keep apps that you use regularly

. Today there’s an app for every small task. Every time you have to install an app that you’ll only use once, make sure to uninstall it afterward to avoid cluttering.

Create folders for apps you don’t use regularly

. If you absolutely have to keep some apps that you don’t use daily, create folders for them to organize and store them on your home screen.

Keep the widgets under control

. Widgets can take up a lot of room on your screen, even more than regular apps. Don’t be afraid to delete the widgets you aren’t using anymore, as well as resize the ones that you have to keep on your home screen.

On Android, the Microsoft Launcher app is perhaps the best alternative to the default launcher to customize your phone experience. However, early releases included limited options to customize the Lock screen appearance and depending on the variant of the operating system, it was difficult to set a custom wallpaper in the Lock screen.

Now, the launcher has matured, and among other features, it’s now possible to customize the Lock screen as well as the Home screen wallpaper any way you like. How To Control Screen Time On Android With Google Family Link

It seems like an impossible task, and it’s certainly far from easy. Even if you successfully manage to block one device, they’ll probably find another or turn on the TV and watch Netflix.

There is no magic bullet and you’ll still have to do some supervision (as well as hiding the TV remote) to ensure your child isn’t seeing stuff they shouldn’t.

Plus, you should sit down with them and talk about the dangers of unrestricted use and explain why you’re about to install an app that will let them control how much their use their precious device.

We’re not saying there won’t be arguments and tantrums, but since asking a child to turn off their phone and do something else is largely ineffective, here’s how to use apps and settings to control their screen time on Android phones and tablets (and Chromebooks, too).

parental control software that works across all of them and can enforce the time limits you set regardless of which device they use.

How to use Google Family Link

In 2023, things are much better, and in our experience, Family Link does what we want it to. Here’s a summary of its features:

It provides an overall screen time limit, which can be different every day

It lets you set a bedtime: hours between which the device cannot be used

For any given app (including games and social media) you can set a time limit, block it or always allow it, regardless of whether the daily screen time has been used up

It lets you approve or deny requests to install specific apps from Google Play

It lets you see a child’s current location on a map (requires mobile data)

Parents can install it on iPhone or Android to monitor and change settings on the child’s Android device

Many paid-for parental control apps fail to do all of the above, so Family Link is a good way to control screen time, all for free.

Family Link is designed to be used with child Google accounts (i.e. accounts for children under 13). However, it also works with pre-existing Google accounts of children any age, so you can continue to restrict screen time for kids older than 12.

Do note that Family Link does not block offensive content; it is up to you which apps you allow your child to use.

Also, bear in mind that Always Allowed apps will work even if the child’s screen time is used up for the day, but only until Bedtime comes into effect. This is in contrast to Apple’s Screen Time where apps that are always allowed work regardless of any screen time limits and bedtime restrictions.

To set up and use the app, you will need both your phone and your child’s phone. The steps may vary slightly, but here’s the basic process:

Go to the app store on your phone – Android or iPhone – and search for Google Family Link.

Follow the instructions to sign into your Google account

If you’re not already a Family Manager, follow the steps to set up a Google Family and make yourself the manager (or one of the managers)

Choose an existing Google account you want to manage, or create a new child account

Install the Google Family Link app on the child’s phone

Follow the prompts on the parent’s phone to link the child’s device (this requires the two devices to be within Bluetooth range)

Choose from the list of apps already installed on the child’s device whether to allow or block them

Once this first stage of the process is complete, you can then use the Family Link app on the parent’s phone to:

Manage settings such as purchase and download approvals

Choose age restrictions for apps & games, films, TV and books

Configure (or edit) limits, including Daily Limits (total screen time) and Bedtime

Use App Controls to set a specific time limit for each app

See the current location of the phone

See the total amount of screen time used today (and historically)

Lock the child’s phone to temporarily prevent them from using it

‘Ring’ the child’s phone to locate it when it has been misplaced

Like other Google apps, Family Link uses a series of ‘cards’ so you need to scroll up and down to get to the section that you want. It should list other devices besides the one you’ve just installed Family Link on which the child has been signed into. You’ll need to install the app and link those devices before time limits will be enforced across them. Until you’ve done that, they’ll have unlimited use on those devices.

How to restrict content in the Google Play Store

If you’re not going to use Family Link, you can set similar restrictions about the apps, games, films, TV and books your child can download from the Play Store.

To do this, launch the Play Store app on their device and tap the profile picture to the right-hand side of the search bar. If necessary, scroll down and tap Settings, then tap Family.

Tap Parental controls and tap the toggle to enable them – enter a PIN so that the settings cannot be changed by the child.

Confirm the PIN, then you’ll be able to go into each section and set the restrictions you want in place.

The different sections are Apps & games, Films, TV and Books. Unfortunately, Music is no longer one of the categories.

Tap on one and you’ll see the various age categories available. Simply tap the highest age you want the child to have access to and then tap Save.

Now, whenever your young one is in the store they won’t be able to download any content that is rated above the setting you’ve put in place. Books is slightly different, in that the settings cordon off content that is marked as explicit rather than by age.

If you want to prevent kids from buying content freely, go back to the Settings menu and tap on the Authentication heading.

Now tap Require authentication for purchases. Make sure ‘For all purchased through Google Play on this device’ is selected. They will now need your password to install any apps or make in-app purchases.
