We reported on an Android 4.2 ROM for the Samsung Captivate a week ago, but unfortunately that particular ROM had quite a few issues to be used as a daily driver and was more of a test build. But fret not, as an almost fully working version of Android 4.2 has now been released for the Captivate, by XDA Recognized Developer pawitp, who also brought Android 4.2 to the Galaxy S in a very stable form.
In case you were wondering, Android 4.2 is still called Jelly Bean but brings quite a few new features, such as a new keyboard with inbuilt Swype-like typing mode, Photo Sphere mode in the camera for 360 degrees panorama photos, Daydreams screensaver mode for displaying pictures and other info when the device is charging, lockscreen widgets, Quick Settings toggles in the status bar, and general performance and stability improvements. If you thought Android 4.1 was great, just wait till you try out 4.2.
However, there are a couple of issues in the ROM at this point, quoted from the source page, where you can always find the most updated list of known issues. Here’s the list of known issues in the ROM currently:
Wifi not working for some users (I’ve already included a fix which worked for some users (on I9000), but still doesn’t work for some users apparently.)
Sim Toolkit (STK) does not work
Bluetooth not working (Fix included in guide)
Follow the guide below to know how the Android 4.2 ROM can be installed on the Samsung Captivate. Keep in mind that this is an unofficial ROM that may have some issues, and no Samsung-specific features will be available as it is a ROM built from stock Android sources.
Compatibility
The procedure described below is only for the Samsung Captivate. Do not try it on any other device.
Warning!
The methods and procedures discussed here are considered risky, so try them out at your own risk, and make sure to read each step carefully before attempting anything. We will not be held responsible if anything goes wrong.
How to Install Android 4.2 on Samsung Captivate
Make sure you have ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery installed on the phone.
Download the latest build of the ROM from the source page.
Also download the “Google Apps” file from the source page. AOSP ROMs like CM do not contain Google apps like Gmail, Talk, YouTube, Search, etc by default, so you will need to install the Google apps package as well to be able to use all the Google services.
Copy both the ROM and Google apps files (copy the files, don’t extract them) to the internal storage on the phone.
In recovery, use Volume keys to scroll up and down and power key to select an option.
Select wipe data/factory reset, then select Yes on next screen to confirm. Wait a while till the data wipe is complete (this will only wipe installed apps and settings, but will not wipe personal files on the SD card).
Select install zip from sdcard, then select choose zip from sdcard. Scroll to the ROM file and select it. Confirm installation on the next screen.
The phone may reboot once during installation, then continue installing the ROM automatically. If it doesn’t resume and just boots into ClockworkMod recovery, repeat step 8 to install the ROM again.
After ROM installation completes, select choose zip from sdcard again, then select the Gapps file to install the Google apps package.
Once the installation of the Google apps package is complete, go back to the main recovery menu and select reboot system now to reboot the phone and boot up into Android 4.2. The first boot can take a few minutes, so don’t panic if it takes 5-7 minutes to do so.
[Bluetooth Fix] If you find that Bluetooth isn’t working for you, download the patch to fix it from this link. Then, copy the downloaded file to the internal storage, boot to recovery, repeat step 8 to install it, then reboot the phone. Bluetooth should then work.
NOTE: The ROM will get regular updates as development goes on, so be sure to check back on the source page for updated versions. To update to a newer version of the ROM, just download it, put it on the phone, and flash it from recovery, without wiping data. Be sure to flash the Google apps package as well.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 Android 5.1.1 Update: T335Xxu1Bof8 Firmware Download With Install Instructions
Samsung Android 5.1.1 update release continues in full flow, as today Galaxy Tab 4 8.0-inch LTE edition became the first tablet to run the 5.1 Android OS. The update comes in the form of build no. T335XXU1BOF8, and once installed, should prevent downgrade back to Android 5.0.
The update belongs to Switzerland, and if that’s where you are using your 8-incher Tab 4, you should be receiving the OTA update soon enough. The OTA update outside of Switzerland could be happening shortly too, depending on the success rate or feedback of this update.
if you don’t like waiting for the OTA rollout in Switzerland or any other country you’re in, you cna install this very Android 5.1.1 update on your Galaxy Tab 4 LTE, 8-inch one of course, after making sure that your tab’s model no. is exact SM-T355. For this, download the 5.1 update firmware from here, and then use the instructions given here Galaxy S6 to update your Tab 4, it would work all fine!

Instructions
Disclamer: Installing an official firmware through Odin doesn’t void your device’s warranty, but it remains an unofficial process and thus you need to be cautious of it. In any case, you only are responsible for your device. We won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device and/or its components.
Backup important files stored on your device before proceeding with the steps below, so that in case something goes wrong you’ll have backup of all your important files. Sometimes, Odin installation may delete everything on your device!
METHOD 1 - USING ODIN PC SOFTWAREThis is a very simple method to upgrade to Android 5.1, as it requires no preparation. Just install and you are done. But, you won’t be able to downgrade back to Android 4.4! Moreover, root access isn’t available for Android 5.1 yet.
(Note: If you want the ability to downgrade to 4.4 and root thereafter, don’t use this method. Instead, look for method 2 on this page.)
You should get the a file in chúng tôi format now (T335XXU1BOF8_T335OXA1BOF8_T335XXU1BOF3_HOME.tar.md5). We will be loading this file into Odin, to be installed on your Tab 4 (in step 10 below).
Extract the Odin file. You should get this file, Odin3 chúng tôi (other files could be hidden, hence not visible).
Disconnect your Tab 4 from PC if it is connected.
Boot Galaxy Tab 4 into download mode:
Power off your Tab 4. Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
Press and hold the three buttons Volume Down + Power + Home together until you see warning screen.
Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.
Connect your Tab 4 to PC now using USB cable. Odin should recognize your Tab 4. It’s a must. When it recognizes, you will see Added!! message appearing in the Log box in bottom left, and the first box under ID:COM will also show a no. and turn its background blue. Look at the pic below.
You cannot proceed until you get the Added!! message, which confirms that Odin has recognized your device.
If you don’t get Added!! message, you need to install/re-install drivers again, and use the original cable that came with device. Mostly, drivers are the problem (look at step 2 above).
If Odin gets stuck at setup connection, then you need to do steps 6 to 12 again. For this, close Odin, disconnect your device, remove battery, insert it back after 5-6 seconds and then start from step 6 again.
That’s it. Enjoy the T335XXU1BOF8 Android 5.1.1 firmware, or call it OF8 in short, on your Tab 4!
METHOD 2 - USING FLASHFIRE ANDROID APP (NEEDS ROOT)This method retains your device’s ability to downgrade easily when needed. So that you can also root your Galaxy S6 after downgrading, as root is available on Android 4.4 builds. But you need root access for this method.
(Note: If you DO NOT want the ability to downgrade to 4.4 and root thereafter, don’t use this method. Instead, look for method 1 on this page that is easy and doesn’t require root access, but you will lose ability to downgrade, while we think root will be available soon anyway, more or less.)
Download the firmware file from above.
You should get the a file in chúng tôi format now (T335XXU1BOF8_T335OXA1BOF8_T335XXU1BOF3_HOME.tar.md5). We will be loading this file into Odin, to be installed on your Tab 4 (in step 10 below).
Connect your Tab 4 to PC, and transfer the tar file to device. Remember the location where you save it.
Disconnect the tab, and download the Flashfire android app that we will use to flash the firmware in tar format:
Login into Google using the same Gmail ID that you are using on device. Go to Google+ page and join the community.
Next, sign up here to be able to install the app from play store and receive updates.
Use the play store link provided thereafter to get to pay store page of the app and install it. It may take hours before it shows up for you in play store. You can only wait.
Open the Flashfire app. Provide it root permissions by tapping on Grant on the pop-up that shows up. And tap on Agree button on the Disclaimer pop-up that comes only one time. (Tip: Read the Instructions section, it’s helpful.)
→ Take care to NOT select Preload/Hidden and Modem partition, otherwise you could brick your device.
On main screen, tap on EverRoot, and un-tick all options. Hit checkmark button, of course, then.
Leave process cache as it is.
Important! Btw, it seems Flashfire reboots the device before completely finish the process. To prevent that, there’s a small trick, keep hitting volume up/down every few seconds. Take care of this!
Once done, your Tab 4 will reboot automatically and you shall see downgrade-able Android 5.1.1 update running. If you find an issue wherein you get stuck with the setup, or it hangs on Samsung’s logo, then just do the factory reset from the recovery mode. Here’s how:
Press and hold Power + Home + Volume down until screen goes off, and then quickly slide your finger from Volume down to Volume up while still holding the other two buttons while device tries to restart, to reboot into recovery mode.
In recovery mode, use volume buttons to move the selection highlight to wipe data/factory reset option, and then press power button to select it. Confirm with Yes on next screen. When done, you will be back at recovery’s home screen.
Select Reboot system now to restart the device. It will work alright this time around.
That would be it. Soon enough, you would have the Android 5.1 firmware running on your Tab 4. Enjoy! And do share this page with anyone who you think would find it useful.

Method 2: Using ADB
This method might be a little trickier than the previous method, however, if you follow the steps below, then there should be absolutely no problem at all.
Install ADB and fastboot driver.
Download the Nokia 6.1 plus Android Pie OTA zip file on your PC.
Now, move the OTA zip file to the same location where you have installed ADB and Fastboot driver (normally, it is the adb folder under the C driver).
Turn off your Nokia 6.1 Plus.
You would have to boot the device into recovery mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down on the Power Key and Volume Down Key. Let go of the Power Key when you see the Nokia logo, however, keep the Volume Down Key pressed until the device has booted into recovery mode.
Connect the phone to the PC using the USB cable.
Verify the connection status of your device over ADB by entering the command given below:adb devices
Now enter the following command to sideload the OTA zip file to install Android Pie on Nokia 6.1 plusadb sideload DRG-330B-0-00WW-B01-update.zip
After the installation process finishes, go back to recovery menu and select ‘Reboot system now’ to restart the device.
That’s it. Once the device finishes rebooting, you would be greeted with Android 9 Pie on board your Nokia 6.1 Plus.
Android 5.1.1 Root For Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge [Sm
Samsung blessed the Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F with Android 5.1 update early on, build no. G925FXXU2BOFJ, but sadly the root access was blocked on that. The OTA/Odin flash will remove root on Android 5.1, while you had none root solution working. That led to developers burning their midnight oil to find a way to achieve root access again, and today, we can confirm there is surefire success on at least the international Galaxy S6 Edge, model no. G925F, as we wait for other models like G925T (T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge) and G925R4 (US Cellular Galaxy S6 Edge).
To root Android 5.1 update on Galaxy S6 Edge, you need to follow the guide below carefully, and flash things exactly in the order as asked. It’s not hard, but it ain’t as simple as one easy CF-Auto-Root flash either. Make necessary backups, and then when you are ready, download the files below and flash them using the guide below to gain superuser root access on Galaxy S6 Edge Android 5.1 update. Backup necessary stuff. In case your device is wiped off while following the guide below, it’s good to have a backup of contacts, photos, videos and other files already saved on PC.
Download the Odin software, TWRP recovery, SuperSU and 5.1 kernel file from above.
Connect Galaxy S6 Edge to PC. Transfer the SuperSU and 5.1 Kernel file to phone. Disconnect the phone now.
Disable Reactivation lock. This is very important! For this:
Boot Galaxy S6 Edge into download mode:
Power off your S6 Edge. Wait 6-7 seconds after screen goes off.
Press and hold the three buttons Volume Down + Power + Home together until you see warning screen.
Press Volume Up to continue to download mode.

Alternate method: You can also try this. Do a Power + Home + Volume Down combo to boot into download mode and wait till you boot into Warning screen. Then press Volume Down key to get device to reboot, but right after pressing Volume Down, press and hold the Power + Home + Volume Up combo to reboot into recovery mode.
Once you are in TWRP recovery, we can root Android 5.1 update. On main screen of TWRP, tap on Install, and then browse and select the 5.1 kernel file (Alex-V_Kernel_S6_Edge_1.2.zip). On next screen, just do the Swipe action at the bottom to install the kernel.
Next, tap the Home button at bottom left of the screen to get back to main screen of TWRP. Tap on Install again, and browse and select the SuperSU file (UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip). Then do the Swipe action action at the bottom to install SuperSU.
Tap on Reboot System to restart the device
That’s it. You should have Root access when you Galaxy S6 Edge boots up. Kudos to awesome team of devs for pulling it off.
[Optional] Create a backup. Reboot into TWRP recovery and then tap on backup, and then select partitions of your choice, preferably all of them, and then do the Swipe action at bottom to start backing up the whole phone! It would always come very handy in case anything bad happens to phone. Go back to TWRP’s main screen by tapping on Home button at bottom left corner.
To reboot into recovery mode when device is On, power off it first, and then press and hold Power + Home + Volume Up button together until you see Samsung logo.
That’s it. Enjoy root access on Samsung Android 5.1 update on Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F.

2. Next, I suggest you follow the first method of this article on how to run MATLAB on a web browser. Just sign up for a free account and enroll in the free trial.
4. The webpage will automatically select the latest version of MATLAB (R2023a) as the default download. Free users can’t choose an older release. If you have paid for a license, I recommend downloading MATLAB R2023b for better performance on your Chrome OS device. Next, from the drop-down menu, choose “Linux” and download the ZIP file.
5. Once downloaded, move the ZIP file to the Linux section in the Files app. After that, copy the name of the ZIP file. You can press the Chromebook keyboard shortcut “Ctrl + Enter” to copy the name of the ZIP file.
6. Now, open the Linux Terminal, enter the below command, and hit enter. Make sure to replace the filename with the actual file name that you copied above.
unzip filename.zip7. After the Terminal is done extracting the content, run the commands listed below one by one.
xhost + sudo ./install9. The installer will connect to the internet and install the desktop version of MATLAB on your Chromebook. Once the installation is complete, close the window.
