Let’s start with the setup, which is pretty straightforward. Step-by-step instructions are displayed on the screen. This includes connecting the remote, setting up your Google account, and telling the system your viewing preferences for improved suggestions. You can use your phone for setup, too, if you prefer that over the remote.

The TiVo Stream 4K gives you all the power of Android TV, with some unique TiVo-inspired additions.

If you know your way around Android TV, you’ll feel right at home with the TiVo Stream 4K. The device has a simple UI that focuses on content instead of applications. The home page has a column showing app info on the left side, but the rest of the screen is filled with content previews. There are a few settings and control options up top too. It’s great to have such a minimalist design that focuses on content, but TiVo made things a bit more confusing by adding its own special touches (more on that in the next section).

Talking about navigating the UI, this is done with an included remote. This accessory is larger than the one included with the Chromecast with Google TV, but it is also much more functional. There are more buttons that make it faster to get things done. These include number buttons, more media controls, a Live TV shortcut, a dedicated TiVo button, and more.

We can’t deny that Google’s design is gorgeous compared to the TiVo Stream 4K. The Chromecast with Google TV has a rounded, super clean look. It’s prettier than TiVo’s black box, but this honestly shouldn’t bother you. No one will see your dongle once set up, as it will live behind your TV.

One thing people will see and use all the time is the remote. While it’s more functional, the TiVo Stream 4K’s controller is also arguably uglier than Google’s. If you want something simple, the TiVo Stream 4K may not be for you.

While stock Android TV isn’t as compelling as the newer Google TV UI, it’s still easy to use. However, TiVo’s implementation is a bit odd.

Instead of giving us just the stock Android TV device, TiVo tacked on its own UI on the side. Think of the TiVo menu as a UI within a UI. You’re presented with the Android TV experience upon turning on your TiVo Stream 4K, but you can also enter the TiVo Stream experience. It shows all the same things like shows and movies, just presented in a different way.

Some of TiVo’s unique features are welcome, but the dual UI interface can be a bit confusing.

This makes the experience redundant, but we suppose it’s good to have options, and we can see how TiVo improves upon the experience. There are more categories, and it can be further customized. Regardless, you can’t help but feel like Google and TiVo are fighting for your attention within a single device.

If you don’t mind a few compromises, the TiVo Stream 4K is a great smart TV device. The design and simplicity aren’t as good as you’ll find with the Chromecast with Google TV and the dual interface experience is annoying, but that is about all we can complain about here.

4K video quality is great, and having the power of Android TV is definitely convenient in terms of content availability. While less aesthetically pleasing, the remote is full of options and features that come in handy and save some button presses while navigating around. Not to mention it’s more comfortable.

Unless you’re a massive TiVo fan, we’d recommend Google’s streaming device for most users. We also recommend Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K Max ($54.99) and the Roku Streaming Stick 4K ($49.99). They’re priced right around the TiVo Stream 4K but offer smoother experiences and better remotes — unless you can find the TiVo Stream 4K at a discount. Thankfully, you can. While both have a $49.99 MSRP, you can often find the TiVo Stream 4K for under $40. At that price, the TiVo Stream 4K becomes more appealing, especially as a secondary device for a guest room or den.

What Isand Is It Safe?

Instup.exe is an executable file that’s downloaded alongside other files when you install the Avast antivirus software on your computer. The latter is different from OneDrive, which is a platform (a cloud service again) that offers you remote space so that you can access your documents from anywhere. We will read about OneDrive in detail in a minute.

Office Web Apps allow you to create files stored on OneDrive. You have to store the files somewhere, and OneDrive easily blends in. Hence many confuse that Office Web Apps are part of OneDrive or vice versa. You can edit and collaborate on such files in real time. Some of you might already be using those services, especially MS Word as a Service. They provide almost all the features necessary to suit your needs.

Mozy: Software as a Service

Mozy is a well-known name in the field of cloud backup service providers. One of the initial SaaS providers, Mozy is also a good example of Software as a Service (SaaS). However, in this case, you must download software to your machine. You can – however – use the backup sets from any other computer as long as you remember your login credentials.

Usually, people set up the software and forget it. That makes them forget the login credentials, too as I did. You might want to use one of the best password managers to log in direct to Mozy using a browser. There you can access your backed-up data.

I deviated a bit from the main topic in the above paragraph, but it was important to tell you to keep your login credentials in mind if you intend to access Mozy using a browser or if you have to reinstall Mozy. A password manager comes in handy in such a case.

Anyway, Mozy offers 2GB of storage space as free. We’ve come a long way. It was not long ago when most of us had but a single screen in our homes – the television set. (Of course in our house growing up, we had a lot more than that. I come from a family of early adopters). Over time, we added second and third TVs as well as an entirely new category of screen in the form of the personal computer. Increasingly, both TVs and PCs are now found throughout the home, connected to each other as well as the Internet. Net result, a dramatic increase in the complexity of consumer infrastructure. In short, it just doesn’t work most of the time for too many folks and I blame the home network. Oh, it’s not merely three screens consumers are dealing with but rather multiple PCs, TVs, and other stuff with a screen on it.

IMHO, the growth of multiple screens and devices in the home now presents a challenge and an opportunity for all vendors in this space. Screens within the home have gone from disconnected to connected, both to the Internet and to each other. As more households become networked, the increase in importance of the home network will begin to rival the overall importance of any single device connected to it and the network is just not up to the task. The primary challenge is that consumer-networking products have not been optimized for anything close to ease of use. Most networking gear is simply re-packaged technology, designed to be used in business settings and deployed and managed by network professionals with strong IT backgrounds.

As consumer interests in sophisticated usage models grow over time, today’s technology will increasingly frustrate consumers with deployment and support. Terms such as NAT translation, DHCP and Port Forwarding might mean a lot to SlashGear readers but are meaningless terms to the lay consumer. Vendors in this space have recognized the importance of simplifying the CE experience for users and provide optimized tools for deployment and management. Those that ignore this issue will be relegated along with older analog technologies and casualties of the consumer digital world, like the old family VCR with the flashing 12:00 that most consumers could never get to work right either.

That remains to be seen but as the popularity of cryptocurrencies continues to grow it will be important for Ethereum to work on its current issues if it is to stand any chance of success.
