Suggested January 2024 The 15 Best Deep Web Search Engines To Find What Google Can’t

For most Internet users, the online world begins and ends with chúng tôi However, Google isn’t able to find everything on the Web, as there is a deep and invisible web that is not accessible by Google. This is why you need special search engines to find information that is not easily available. Read on to learn about the Invisible Web and the best Deep Web search engines.

What Is the Invisible Web

What is the Invisible Web? For the most part, it exists within the realm of the Deep Web, which general-purpose web crawlers do not reach. To learn about the Invisible Web and how Deep Web search engines can help, we first need to discuss the three different layers of the web in brief.

The “Surface Web” is where most Internet users will stay. It’s the web that Google searches, including this webpage. Search engines crawl and index all of the sites that live within the Surface Web. This is what the layperson understands as the Internet.

The “Deep Web,” or Shallow Web, is a laundry list of databases, servers, and programs that will not appear in an online search result or the Web directly. For the most part, experts consider the Shallow Web to be considerably larger than the Surface Web.

The “Dark Web” is something you generally hear about in the news or in movies. This is best regarded as the home to more illicit activities, such as drug and weapon sales. That’s not the entirety of the Dark Web, but you cannot access them without the help of the Tor browser.

The actual differences between the Deep and Dark Web are quite blurred now. Together, these two comprise the Invisible Web. We consider the Deep/Dark Web “invisible,” as they don’t have a fixed website location.

For example, most public records are stored in databases and not on individual static web pages. This makes it “invisible” to Google, but we can get this information from Deep Web search engines.

1. Ahmia

As soon as you open the Ahmia website in Tor, you will be redirected to its onion URL.

Ahmia is crowd-sourced and open source, and focuses on user safety. It filters out abusive and dangerous sites and has been instrumental in raising awareness about sites that attempt to trick users.

We found Ahmia a highly useful search engine to look for other deeply hidden search engine onions.

As you can imagine, the official government repository of all the publicly available information on the USA’s agencies, states, laws, tax information, jobs and more contains a whole lot of information. You can find plenty of old articles and media resources archived by the US government.

From the main search page, you can link through to sites of specific institutions and even tribal governments, accessing all kinds of records from birth and death certificates to old legal information. It’s a powerful source of information for rigorous folks.

Ready to switch to a new browser? Check out our Google vs. Bing vs. DuckDuckGo comparison that may help you choose.

3. DuckDuckGo

DuckDuckGo focuses heavily on privacy and not tracking users, all while allowing you to search the Surface Web. However, DuckDuckGo also has a hidden side that allows you to search the Deep Web. When you pair DDG with the .onion version, you are then able to perform a much larger search of the Web that includes the Deep Web.

Do note that accessing the onion search results on DDG will require you to download the Tor browser. It’s recommended to open the search engine site on Tor itself so a DDG onion link is generated.

4. Wayback Machine

What makes the Wayback Machine really special is that, unlike search engines like Google and Bing that only look at what is available on a website today, the Wayback Machine provides a snapshot of content that is no longer available. Offering more than 100 terabytes of data or over 700 billion web pages, it gives you the history of any public site.

The information is captured via date- and time-wise snapshots. You can use this useful website to bypass news paywalls.

5. Haystak

Similar to other onion sites, Haystak requires the Tor browser for access, but with its more than 1.5 billion web pages and index of over 260,000 onions, including historical onion results, you’re more likely to find what you’re looking for.

6. Torch

Browsing the Web using Google’s Chrome browser? Switch to dark mode even if you’re not ready to plunge into the Dark Web.

7. Directory of Open Access Journals

How many times have you come across an academic journal you wanted to read only to find you need a subscription? The Directory of Open Access Journals is here to help. It has more than 18,000 journals available across 80 languages from 126 different countries.

Subjects include agriculture, education, history, medicine, law, military science, science technology, and more. Many of these articles are free to read online. If you are a researcher, you will find accurate, up-to-date information on any current events or trends.

8. Elephind

If there has ever been a time when you wanted to look at a backlog of the world’s historical newspapers, Elephind is for you. With more than 3.8 million newspapers available across 4,300 different titles, there are a total of more than 200 million archives at your disposal.

You can browse through actual newspaper clips for any topic in a timeline spanning the entire 20th century. When it comes to the right type of research, students, genealogists and more will find this to be the perfect site. The vast collection of archived newspapers is free to use.

9. WorldCat

Sites like WorldCat help bring the Deep Web that revolves around indexing databases to the forefront. Going from library to library to find an item is massively time-consuming, so trust that WorldCat can do the work for you. Books, DVDs, CDs, articles, and more are all available as search engine topics.

For any book or article that you want to read, you get a collection of online libraries that have it with them. If you want to create a list of items for the future, you can sign up for your own account.

10. Spokeo

Spokeo is all about the people-centric nature of the Deep Web. Claiming to have access to more than 12 billion public records, Spokeo is a great place to start for reverse phone number checks. It works with its unique Onion on Tor browser.

If you want to move on to something a little more invisible, you can search for email addresses, criminal records, social media profiles, current and previous addresses, and more. Spokeo does most of the people work for you – all with a ten-digit phone number.

11. The Hidden Wiki

Anyone unfamiliar with the Dark Web should be extra careful, as some of the links in Hidden Wiki may be leading to suspicious websites. If you are looking for software resources, entertainment, sports, and financial information, The Hidden Wiki is the best place to gather all the initial information.

You won’t be able to find The Hidden Wiki using regular browsing methods. Actually, here are more Dark Web sites that Google won’t let you find.

12. OnionLand Search

With a simple user interface, OnionLand Search provides a one-stop source for deep and dark websites, financial websites and money transfers, onion hosting links, and other hidden information buried deeply somewhere. If you open the OnionLand Search homepage in Tor, its Onion version is activated.

The search engine’s capabilities are vast, as it can wade into information strands that just aren’t indexed by Google. It’s safe to use, but one has to use discretion.

Warning: you may run into a few illegal sites on this search engine. Simply close any windows that seem to be peddling harmful content.

13. BBC Tor Mirror

BBC is a reliable news source with one of the largest collections of news events and stories from several decades past. However, there are a few countries that have banned access to BBC’s official homepage on the Web. Checking the same webpage on Deep Web is the only way out.

For those without access to the direct BBC link, there is a Tor mirror link, bbcnewsd73hkzno2ini43t4gblxvycyac5aw4gnv7t2rccijh7745uqd.onion, that ensures quick and easy access to the entire news collection in a Tor browser.

14. SearXNG

Working with SearXNG requires some work. As the metasearch service doesn’t collect any user data, you won’t get personalized results. Each search result is only given as a direct link to the respective site. It is harder to procure relevant results, but the search engines will learn nothing about you!

15. Snow Search Engine

Snow is a true hidden gem of the Deep Web. What we like about it is the neat way in which it organizes information on so many different topics, including Wiki, hacking, news sites, images, video and web hosting, and cryptocurrency details.

Frequently Asked Questions Is the Invisible Web something I should learn to use?

That’s a question only you can answer. What do you want to use the Invisible Web for? If it’s to find library books or look through old newspapers, it definitely has its benefits. However, using sites like Spokeo should only be done with the best of intentions.

Is the Invisible Web safe?

If you start to wade into Dark Web waters, it’s not as much about safety as it is about legalities. If you stay in Deep Web territory, there is plenty you can do where online safety isn’t a significant concern. Understanding how to use Tor is one of the best ways to familiarize yourself with the Deep Web and what you can really do.

Can I get in trouble for using the Deep Web?

If you are using sites like Spokeo to look up coworkers or neighbors, then yes, it’s probably not an activity you want to engage in. If you are using it to look at library inventory, old newspapers, or to find scholarly journals, then it’s completely fine.

At the end of the day, searching on the Deep Web should be done cautiously. Some Deep Web search engines discussed here are perfectly okay to explore, but once you get into the Tor world, your online guard should be up.

Search Engines & The Christmas Shopping Season

Planning the Christmas Shopping Season

It is that time of year again folks. As far as the calendar year is concerned, the sun has passed the yardarm and the winter holiday season is approaching faster than any of us think. In the world of search engine marketing, it is time to begin planning the all important online Christmas shopping season.

Christmas is the most competitive portion of the year for E-Commerce websites. Like their cousins in the brick and mortar retail industry, the ten to twelve weeks preceding the holidays tends to comprise an enormous portion of their annual incomes. In previous years, StepForth, like most other SEO and SEM firms was deluged with frantic calls from online retailers towards the beginning of December. While most SEO and SEM firms can achieve strong placements fairly quickly for clients, the Christmas shopping season tends to be our busiest time of the year as well. Due to the huge volumes of service requests from online retailers, many SEO or SEM firms have to turn potential clients away from mid-October until the end of December, thus leaving many good people (the E-Tailers) to fend for themselves against their competition on the search engines. As a common practice, we track the number of searches conducted under various keyword phrases each month.

As with past years, we are starting to see a constant rise in searches conducted under the phrase “Christmas Gifts”. According to the Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool, there were 34,828 searches for “Christmas Gifts” in June. That’s up from the 28,208 conducted in May and the 24,865 conducted in April. If search engine users continue to follow habits shown in previous years, we expect to see a figure approaching 55,000 searches for “Christmas Gifts” by the end of July of this year. (Please note, these numbers only represent searches conducted at chúng tôi We tend to quote them as Overture is the only search tool that freely offers such accurate and timely information.) The middle of July is a smart time to research your SEO and SEM choices in order to make a decision on which vendor to contract before the middle of August.

The last seven weeks of 2003 were exceptionally difficult for many online retailers as Google introduced the infamous “Florida Update” in the middle of November. The Florida Update was an unfortunate attempt by Google to clean up its results through the introduction of a new ranking algorithm based on a more complex examination of incoming links. At the time, many speculated that the update was targeted at sectors that are heavily influenced by SEO tactics such as real estate, travel and accommodations, and smaller retailers. While the reasoning for the update in November was very different from the reasoning behind the mass-banning of clients from the Las Vegas spam-shop, the effect on individual businesses is exactly the same. By taking the time to research your SEO/SEM vendors, you will most likely avoid being de-listed from Google. This is especially pressing during the most important shopping season of the year as your goal should be to be seen at Google, not banned by them.

3 “Reversed” Search Engines That Search Without Keywords

Very often you don’t even know which words to use to find what you need, all you need is a bunch of “similar” sites and pages – and that’s when the “reversed” search can come in handy: that said all you need is some “base” URL and the rest of the results will be generated based on it.

“Associative Browsing”

SimilarWeb and SimilarSites are two web services driven by the same web technologies and called “associative browsing”.

By using SimilarWeb or chúng tôi you can start with a place you know and look at the internet from that point of view, discovering new sites that deal with the same subject and are related in some way.

Both sites seem to work by researching user behavior (the only source that comes to mind is getting data through FireFox addons both sites offer)

Built on sophisticated algorithms that scout the internet and taking into account user opinions. It matters not if the user is looking at a major portal or a website of some unknown artist, SimilarWeb provides accurate results for rare sites as well as highly ranked ones, the technology excels in the long tail of the web.

“Discovery Engine”

Ambiently (previously reviewed at SEJ) is a “discovery engine” (as they prefer to be called) because as opposed to “search engine” that searches based on the keyword you specify, Ambiently discovers more pages based on the URL you are viewing.

Sometimes you may notice that ambient links on an ambient page are not relevant. This is caused by a combination of many factors: the data structure of the original webpage, the data Ambiently can get from that site, the current scope/capability of our algorithms and rules, and the limitation of our foreign language support, among others.

Social Tagging

There are also a couple of tools based on people’s preferences and perform reversed search:

People tag websites using some words;

These tags are analyzed;

Sites are grouped based on similar combinations of tags;

Once you submit an URL, its tags are analyzed and more pages saved with these tags are returned.

Casino Seo: The Uk Gambling Sites Promotion In The Search Engines

Britain is one of the most loyal countries to gambling with a developed legislative regulation in this area. The total gross revenue of gambling operators in 2010, according to the Gambling Commission of Great Britain, amounted about £ 5,7 billion. According to sociological surveys, 68% of British adults gamble in one way or another.

There is a serious struggle for British gamblers among the leading operators, and in this article, we will try to figure out how to work with this audience in conditions of severe competition.

Demographic value of the traffic

For a start, let’s try to identify typical patterns of players and their preferences, depending on various factors.

First, we should consider the dependence of the average total revenue a casino gets from one player (Lifetime Value) based on the gender and gaming preferences, as well as the percentage of game preferences based on gender.

  Casino games Poker Sports Casual games Female £500 (6-12 months) – – £400-500 (6-12 months) Male £200-300 (3-9 months) £300-400 (6-12 months) £200 (6-12 months) £100-200 (6-12 months)

As we can see, the average time of gambling in a single institution is usually not more than six months. This should be taken into account by both casino operators building a system of keeping the players or the players transfer from one brand to another, and the affiliates that have the ability to interact with their audience, for example, using their own email lists.

Fun and Real Money Players

The overall conversion rates are difficult to outline as such factors as Fun and Real Money players ratio are influenced to a great extent by brand recognition, credibility, usability and other factors.

Nevertheless, it makes sense to remember that about 80% of deposits are made within one minute after the registration. In other words, if a player has not deposited money right away, chances that he will do it later are tiny.

The typical conversion cycle is as follows:

In this process, the player goes through the following steps:

Comes to the site and looks the content through; decides to download the software;

Trusts the system enough to leave his personal data, including the e-mail address;

At this stage (Registration), the player has three options to continue: make his first deposit, play for Fun or not play at all. If a visitor has not played within 24 hours from the time of registration, it is unlikely that he can be converted into a real money player.

If the gambler does not play or keeps playing for virtual money at the casino for more than 2-3 days, the email marketing system is turned on and automatically sends out letters designed to facilitate the conversion of the user to the real money player.

Having figured out the demographics of the players and their conversion cycle, it is time to turn to the issue of driving traffic.

Search Engine Traffic Attraction:  Typical Strategies

Therefore, the average revenue they get from a player will be significantly higher and, consequently, much larger amounts can be spent on attracting players and as a result, big brands can afford much higher CPC than new projects.

In this respect, the development strategy of the PPC campaign may require trying to find a narrow niche, with lower competition.

PPC campaign ideas:

players are most active in the evenings (time targeting);

men start gambling much more intensively before the football games, about 1-2 hours before the broadcast (time and demographic targeting);

not all the casinos pay enough attention to the female audience (demographic targeting);

competition by the narrower queries is much weaker (the structure of PPC campaigns by games), etc.

Search Engine Optimization

In 90% of cases, it is the search engine optimization that makes sense to be focused on if we are talking about a young casino.

Top 10 projects in terms of involved unpaid search traffic in chúng tôi looks like this:

The most common strategy is to create a site structure in which each game has a separate page that allows you to promote the game by such queries as “play craps online” or “best online blackjack”.

Even the minimal set of about 15 games (blackjack, roulettes, craps, slots, etc.) gives the output  of the semantic core around 1200 search terms. This is a great opportunity for young projects to cling to the relevant search engine traffic with less competition.

Typical link building methods

Large casinos usually work with links according to the standard procedure – there are specialists (staff or freelance) who analyse and explore the links of competitors, and then try to aquire a link from the same project (if the budget allows). There are companies that specialize solely on providing such services, and online casinos form the overwhelming majority of their customers.

The preferred format of placing is a small text (about 150 characters), containing one or two links.

Sometimes there are other options, for example, the famous 32Red casino (operator Microgaming) has the following commercials.

Another popular method of promoting websites in the industry is the creation and distribution of free WordPress themes with a backlink encoded in the footer. Practice shows that a significant amount of links gets cut later, but even so, quality made theme can give hundreds of natural backlinks to the promoted project.

Women make very attarctive audience for the segments of Casino games and Casual games;

The average time of play at the same casino makes around 6 months;

About 80% of all the deposits are made during the first 60 seconds after the registration;

It is worth trying to find narrower niches in PPC (by separate games, with time targeting and so on);

From the SEO point of view it is better to put the games to different pages;

A very interesting source of backlinks is WordPress themes sponsoring.

Google To Highlight Best Shopping Deals In Search Results

Google is highlighting top shopping deals in search results in an effort to boost visibility for retailers while ensuring shoppers get the best available prices.

In a series of related updates, Google is making it easier and faster to apply product promotions, attract new customers, and uncover meaningful insights.

And yes, these updates all apply the free shopping listings Google began offering earlier this year.

Highlight Promotions in Search Results

Promotions are now available to all US retailers, and Google says they will be significantly easier to use for the holiday shopping season.

Previously, retailers had to fill out an interest form to enable the use of promotions in Merchant Center. Now, promotions are automatically enabled for all eligible retailers in the US.

Retailers can edit promotions directly in Merchant Center, and the average approval time has been reduced from days to hours.

These updates offer the ability to better react to shopper demand, such as running a flash sale or extending the time period of existing promotions.

Products on promotion will show up in more places across Google, and include various annotations like the ones shown in the example below.

Google will highlight promoted products across the following surfaces:

Ads in Google Shopping

Free listings in Google Shopping

Google Images (mobile only)

Shoppers won’t have to look too hard for deals either, as a new “on sale” filter is being added to the Shopping tab across mobile and desktop.

In addition, shoppers who search for a specific product will be able to see which retailer is offering that item on-sale within the product knowledge panel.

More Reporting Insights

Google is rolling out an update in November which will provide retailers with better reporting for on-sale products and promotions.

Data can then be used to evaluate performance and make adjustments if necessary.

Useful Shopping Statistics

Sprinkled throughout Google’s announcement are a number of shopping statistics which retailers might find useful.

58% of US holiday shoppers will hold off on buying gift items until they’re on-sale.

40% of global shoppers say they turn to Google to find the best deal.

58% of US holiday shoppers bought from at least one brand last holiday season that they hadn’t before.

65% of US holiday shoppers are starting to shop earlier to avoid out-of-stock items.

For more information on how to implement promotions, see Google’s help page here.
