Not Compatible With This Signal: Meaning & How To Fix It

Not Compatible With This Signal: Meaning & How to Fix it If your HDMI connection results in a lack of signal, follow this guide

Even the simplest connections, such as HDMI, can sometimes backfire and cause issues.

If nothing else works, you might have to factory reset your PC monitor or your Smart TV.

This software will simplify the process by both searching and updating your drivers to prevent various malfunctions and enhance your PC stability. Check all your drivers now in 3 easy steps:

Download Outbyte Driver Updater.

Launch it on your PC to find all the problematic drivers.

OutByte Driver Updater has been downloaded by

readers this month.

Users are still having a lot of issues with HDMI cables, so we decided to do what we always do and lend a helping hand.

Recently, we’ve shown you some neat ways to fix your HDMI if it’s not allowing 144Hz, so we thought we should give you some more HDMI guides.

A lot of users are complaining about receiving error messages saying that HDMI is not compatible with the signal, which is what prompted this article.

That being said, if you are having this problem, relax, sit back, and take a few minutes to learn how to deal with it properly.

Keep in mind that the HDMI not compatible with this signal is not only an error for PC users, and you can also experience it on your Smart TV.

What does it mean when HDMI is not compatible with this signal?

In a nutshell, the TV may not support the same higher resolutions that your computer monitor might, but they’ll almost certainly support resolutions that are much more acceptable.

So, we recommend verifying that the source device has power and is turned on before you go ahead and try anything else.

If the source device is connected with an HDMI cable, make sure the TV and source device are both turned on, then disconnect the HDMI cable from one of the devices and then connect it again.

What can I do if HDMI is not compatible with the signal? 1. Manually switch the Input source

It should go without saying, but sometimes the solutions to what seem the most complicated problems are actually simpler than you might have imagined initially.

Whether we are talking about your monitor or your TV, make sure to press the Input or Source button and switch the input source to the HDMI port.

One more thing to keep in mind is the fact that, if you have more than one HDMI port, be sure to select the right one.

2. Unplug/replug the HDMI cable

As we said, the simplest solutions can sometimes prove to be the most effective ones, so before we go further with the troubleshooting, please also consider this.

Again, whether we’re talking about a TV or a PC monitor, simply unplug the HDMI cable from the back, leave it out for a couple of minutes, then plug it back in.

Expert tip:

Since Windows doesn’t always find a solution for you, the best way to solve the HDMI issue is to use a tool to search for the Display adapter driver.

Often, your computer system might not be able to update the generic drivers for your hardware and peripherals correctly. There are vital differences between a generic driver and a manufacturer’s driver. Finding the correct driver versions for every hardware component can become tiresome.

That’s why a dependable updater can help you find and update your drivers automatically. We strongly suggest the Outbyte Driver Updater, and here’s how to do it:

Download and install the Outbyte Driver Updater app.

Launch the software and wait for the app to detect all incompatible drivers.

Now, it will show you a list of all outdated drivers to select the ones to Update or Ignore.

Restart your PC to ensure the applied changes.

4. Perform a factory reset on PC monitor/TV

We’re hoping it won’t come to this, but if all else fails, this is what you must do in order to fix this extremely annoying problem.

Only use this as a last resort and keep in mind that whatever settings or apps you had on your monitor, or TV, will be gone as a result.

5. Switch HDMI cables

Sometimes cables can get damaged and won’t be able to do the job they were made for, so here’s another factor to take into consideration.

Simply perform a simple visual inspection and make sure the cable doesn’t have any frays or cuts that could prevent it from working properly.

If by chance you find any damage, simply buy another cable and try again. You might find it hard to believe, but some users actually reported that this worked for them after replacing faulty cables.

How do I reset my HDMI?

If you were expecting some intricate, complicated answer here, you are in luck. In fact, to reset an HDMI connection, you only need 1 minute.

Turn off both devices that are connected via HDMI, then go ahead and carefully unplug the cable ends from both of them.

Now, plug the cable back into the devices, this time using the opposite ends of the HDMI cable. Turn your devices back on and, voila!

Many users reported their Sharp TV’ss HDMI not being compatible with this signal, so just refer to the solutions above if you have this problem.

You can also be in a situation where Roku might not be compatible with this signal, which is when you can also use the guide above.

That being said, if you or one of your friends or loved ones experience the HDMI not compatible with this signal on Windows 10/11, know that they came to the right place to get it fixed.

Still experiencing troubles? Fix them with this tool:

Some driver-related issues can be solved faster by using a tailored driver solution. If you’re still having problems with your drivers, simply install OutByte Driver Updater and get it up and running immediately. Thus, let it update all drivers and fix other PC issues in no time!

I Am Bread Review: This Physics Simulator Is Toasted To Not

I am Bread is clever but ultimately shallow, relying on its gimmick more than anything else. But it’s a pretty hilarious gimmick.

Sometimes I lie awake on long, sleepless nights thinking about what life would’ve been like had I been born into different circumstances. What if I hadn’t been born human at all? What if I’d been born a bumblebee, or a rhinoceros? What if I’d been born one of the inhabitants of the Federation planet Xaldorfigan-III?

It is, if you’ll pardon the pun, the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well, not quite. But I had to make the pun.

I am Bread is the first game from developer Bossa Studios since 2013’s Surgeon Simulator, and the two share a pretty similar mold: Start with something boring, add physics, and watch the world burn.

But where Surgeon Simulator had you performing ad hoc surgery on hapless victims patients, I am Bread is the epic tale of your journey to…become toast. You play the part of a sentient piece of white bread, and your goal is to crisp up both sides of your squishy frame and be the best piece of golden brown toast you could possibly be. Think Toy Story but, you know…with toast.

Instructions are pretty simple.

It’s possibly the stupidest idea since Goat Simulator, which was utterly wonderful.

Bossa’s fast becoming known for its daunting control schemes, and I am Bread is no exception. Half the challenge of I am Bread is mastering the game’s controls. You’re probably the most limber piece of bread ever created, but that doesn’t make your ascent towards toastdom any easier. Four keys (or buttons, if you’re using a controller) are mapped to the four corners of your bread slice, allowing each to individually “grab” onto surfaces. From there, you’ll kind of learn how to walk/flop/fling yourself around the room, or scale walls like some sort of doughy Spider-Man.

Nobody wants to eat a soggy, dirty, burnt piece of toast ridden with ants. They want the sublime. They want toast so golden brown and buttery and delicious it reminds them of Saturday mornings perched in front of the TV watching cartoons. They want toast you’d serve to Toastino, patron saint of Toast.

And if you think you’re just going to find a toaster in the bathroom, well you’re sadly mistaken. This ain’t no Hollywood suicide. Me? I used the hair dryer. Perfect, golden brown toast.

Unfortunately like most gimmick games (Goat Simulator included) I am Bread straddles a weird fence where it’s hard to tell whether the fun is found in the game itself or merely in the concept. In other words, “Am I enjoying the game or do I merely think it’s hilarious to watch a slice of bread ride around on a skateboard?”

It’s probably a bit of both, though I think I am Bread leans pretty heavily on the absurdity and novelty of its “protagonist.” It’s not exactly a great game as much as it’s a great game to show people, or to tell people about. And that’s also in line with Bossa’s games—Surgeon Simulator was similarly better when shared with others. That’s why it became an early Twitch phenomenon.

When you’re sick of the base game, make sure you check out the “Starch Wars” expansion for added hilarity.

You’ll likely notice your excitement waning as you reach the later levels and long before you experience the game’s many alternate modes (though the recent “Starch Wars” expansion is genius), but there are a few novelty-filled hours of enjoyment to be wrung from I am Bread. Changes made towards the end of the game’s Early Access period also make the game far less punishing—including a “magic marmalade” that pops up after a certain number of deaths in Story Mode, granting you invincibility and allowing you to essentially bypass a level you’re stuck on.

Bottom line

Pick this one up for the novelty, and then stick around for…actually, the novelty is pretty much the whole reason to play. But that alone is fodder for a few fun-filled hours.
