Another week, another build for Windows 10 Preview. This time, Microsoft pushed build 14951 to Insiders on both PC and Mobile. The new build brought a handful of improvements for various Windows 10 features, and fixed some of the known issues from the previous builds.

However, build 14951 also caused some problems of its own to users who installed. Microsoft already warned us about some potential problems in the build announcement article, but as usual, that’s not enough. In reality, there are many more issues bugging Insiders, than just those that Microsoft listed under ‘Known Issues.’

So, we wandered around Microsoft’s forums, in order to find problems reported by actual users, and we found a lot of them. In this article, we’re going to tell you about these problems, and try to solve at least some of them.

Windows 10 Preview build 14951 reported issues

It’s a tradition here at Windows Report to start our report articles with installation issues. Well, users have experience all sorts of installation problems when trying to install build 14951. Some of them reported installation fails, some reported stuck installation, while the build haven’t even show up for some users.

Here’s what Insiders said on the forums:

“Hi, windows updates is not showing nor downloading any windows 10 build 14951 for me. I tried to do it last night but wasent showing it so I decided to wait till today to try again and it is still not showing. Please could I have help to fix the problem?”

“I found the computer locked with 73% installed for 2 hours. I then did a manual restart and now the computer will not update.”

Reportedly, the problem is already acknowledged by Microsoft, and we hope the company will fix it with the upcoming release. Until then, you can try resetting Windows Update, disabling your third-party antivirus program, or even skipping this one.

All these problems occurred on Windows 10 PCs, however, it looks like the same issue is present on Mobile, as well. Microsoft also acknowledged the problem immediately, and promised a solution to arrive soon. Here’s what Microsoft’s Jason [MS] said on the forums:

“We’ve just launched build 14951 to the Fast ring today and we’re seeing reports from users staying their device is not progressing past “0% downloading” on the update screen.

We encourage Windows Insiders to file feedback or upvote feedback from others.  We’ve started digging through the logs we have already received to investigate the issue.

Stay tuned to this thread for additional details. We’ll post updates as information becomes available.

Now that we told you everything you need to know about Windows 10 Preview build 14951 installation issues, let’s see what bothers users who actually managed to get the new build installed.

One Insider reported on the forums that he’s unable to connect to internet in build 14951, regardless of the browser.

“The new build 14951 has the same problems as 14942/14946 : intermittent internet, many sites dont load up, if they did its garbage, bad full screen performance in games, bad video playback, etc. Once I roll back to 14936 , everything is fine.”

Expert tip:

Issues with Windows 10 Enterprise mode are not so common in Windows 10 Insider program. However, we saw one in build 14951. One user reported that the latest three Preview builds broke DirectAccess. Here’s what he said about this issue:

“The last three Insider builds has broken DirectAccess.  I know that it is all functional on the server side, but I am unable to connect to any resources.  I cannot ping by name any resources on our network.  It has been forcing me to revert to prior builds until this gets fixed.  Anyone else having this issue?”

Other forum users have suggested some solution, but apparently, none of them worked. We also don’t have a proper workaround for this problem, so admins facing the issues with DirectAccess will probably have to wait for another build.

Another user have experienced problems with removing SD card from his SD card slot. Here’s what he said on the forums:

“there is system crash in ejecting sd card slot in preview build 14951…this issue did not fix in build 14951 … i experienced this issue in build 14946 … reported in feedback hub…is there any solution from the help community?…”

Now, let’s talk about problems that bugs Insiders on Mobile devices. Besides above-mentioned installation issues, there are a few more problems that deserve to be in our report article.

The first problem is the issue with display, which reportedly won’t time out for some users. Here’s what one user reported on the forums:

“Updated my Lumia 950 from latest production software yesterday, now after 10 hours of use i find out that screen won’t time-out and is still on. When i power screen off via power button then it doesn’t show glance, it’s turned off of course, but the problem is when i power the screen on again – it skips the lockscreen and shows start immediately, which means no Iris scanning, no PIN request, just open my phone to anyone.”

And finally, one user reported that he’s unable to download a new keyboard language pack on his Windows 10 Mobile device:

“After update to 14951 from RS1 14393.321 I tryed to download additional language keyboard. Same situation started as in 14946 – download stop on 0%, doesn´t continue. So I think there is problem with additional languages download”

Just like it was the case with the majority of problems reported here, other Insiders remained silent about this issue on the forums.

Windows 10 Build 17063 Bugs: Install Fails, No Sound On Edge, Games Stutter

Windows 10 build 17063 bugs: install fails, no sound on Edge, games stutter

Windows 10 build 17063 is by far the richest Redstone 4 release in terms of new features and improvements. Indeed, while this OS version brings a bevy of new features to the table, it also features issues of its own, as many Insiders already reported.

Windows 10 build 17063 reported issues 1. Install fails

Yes, this classic build problem strikes again. Many Insiders cannot test the latest Redstone 4 features because they can’t install build 17063.

The install process often fails to launch, gets stuck, freezes or it reverts the changes when it’s almost complete. Judging by user reports, it seems that error 0xc1900101 is the most common error code blocking the install process.

Had to power cycle, said it was “attempting to restore”, locked up again. Second power cycle was able to restore to 17046. Glad made full backup sunday, just in case.

Fortunately, some fixes are already available and they include:

Removing Macrium Reflect

Removing the SD card and other USB peripherals

Performing a clean install.

2. System Warning of Unknown Hard Error

If you own a Surface Pro 3 device, you should avoid installing build 17063 altogether. Insiders report that this build causes unknown hard errors, preventing them from using their devices.

I’ve tried refreshing my PC and it brings up the ‘No More BitLocker Options Available’, this occurs when trying to reset my Surface, and when trying to restore to a previous version.

3. No sound in Microsoft Edge

If you’re not getting any sound output from your Edge browser, you’re not the only one. Many Insiders complained that no sound is coming out of their browser after installing the latest Windows 10 build.

“There’s no sound in Microsoft Edge at all in Build 17063.

Expert tip:

The audio works in Edge but, after few minutes, it suddenly stops working and you must restart the system.

The audio doesn’t work at all since system startup.”

If you’re also experiencing this issue, try changing audio frequency from 192.000 Hz to 48.000 Hz.

4. No network access in VMware Workstation Windows 10 Pro

Build 17063 blocks access to network in VMware Workstation.

Everything has been fine until I upgraded from 17046 to 17063. I have Win 10 pro setup for DHCP so I tried setting a fixed IP address and it still didn’t work. I then ran the network troubleshooter and it says it can’t communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server) and Security or firewall settings might be blocking the connection. I restored back to 17046 and network access works again.

5. Game stuttering

Apparently, build 17063 is not a gaming-friendly release. Many players reported that the latest build is causing massive game stuttering.

The culprit is Microsoft’s GraphicsPerfSvc service that’s interfering with the game while it’s in fullscreen mode using around 30% of CPU while gamers play their favorite titles.

Any game I play, hangs every 2-3 seconds for like 100 milliseconds and then resumes, it is so damn frustrating.

6. Windows 10 is not activated

Many Insiders were surprised to see that Windows 10 is no longer activated after they installed the latest build. This is common issue affecting many users, as one of Microsoft’s Community moderators confirmed.

I tried troubleshooting but it didn’t solve the problem

If you can’t activate Windows, maybe the guides below will help you:

These are the most frequent issues affecting the latest Redstone 4 build release.

Email is a crucial part of our lives and it can be quite frustrating for you if you find yourself not being able to send emails.

Speaking of which, it seems that Outlook won’t send emails after upgrade to Windows 10, so let’s explore this issue.

Users have reported that they are unable to send emails using Outlook on Windows 10, and this issue seems to affect various versions of Outlook.

In order to fix this issue, we have a couple of solutions for you.

What can I do if Outlook email fails? 1. Change your email client

We know that switching to a different email client isn’t easy, especially if you’re used to the same Outlook for a long time.

However, if none of these solutions help, maybe you should consider switching to an alternative email client.

There are many free ones available and most of them will do perfectly as an Outlook replacement. We would strongly suggest you Mailbird as one of the leaders on the market.

It is a friendly user choice and best of all, it has many great features that will be very helpful in mailing management and using all your favorite apps from one place.

Mailbird

When Outlook email fails after a recent upgrade, the well-designed Mailbird is a great alternative to try out.

2. Run System File Checker scan

When the Command Prompt opens you need to type sfc /scannow.

Press Enter and wait for the process to complete. System File Checker can take about 20 minutes on a regular hard drive, so make sure that you do n0t interrupt it.

When the scan finishes it will inform you whether it was successful or not.

Restart your computer and check if the problem is solved.

If you’re not familiar System File Checker is a scan that will scan your Windows 10 for any corrupted system files, and it will repair those files if possible.

To perform a System File Checker scan, complete the above steps.

scannow command has stopped before the process finished? Don’t worry, we’ve got an easy fix for you.

3. Perform a clean install of Windows 10

If the System File Checker was unable to help, maybe you should perform a clean install of Windows 10.

Just make sure that you create a backup for your important files and not delete them by accident. In that regard, use these great local data backup software tools.

Reinstalling Outlook might also help. If you’re not sure how to do this, ask someone to help you out, or hire someone to do it for you.

Also, keep in mind that the above solutions are ideal when no images appear in emails after Windows 10 upgrade. That’s a similar issue that many Outlook 2010 complain about.

How To Increase Your Internet Speed In Windows 11/10

The world is moving fast and one of the main ingredients in this mix is the Internet. From self-driving cars to playing games in real-time is possible because of the fast internet. But if this ingredient becomes sluggish then we have to do something about it. Therefore in this article, we are going to see some of the ways to increase your internet speed.

Increase the Internet Speed on your PC

Follow the following suggestions to improve your Internet Speed:

Allow your Computer to receive more data

Add a Default TTL

Close conflicting applications

TCP Extension for High Performance

Scan for Virus & Malware

Let us look at them in detail.

1] Allow your Computer to receive more data

In this section, we are going to talk about the I/O Request Packet Stack Size. If you want your computer to receive more data at a single time then you have to modify IRPStackSize. IRPStackSize (I/O Request Packet Stack Size) represents how many 36-byte Receive buffers your system can use simultaneously. This tweak will not be helpful if you have a very slow connection.

To modify IRPStackSize you need to be obedient to the steps that we have mentioned below:-

Navigate using the following route:-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesLanmanServerParameters

Name it “IRPStackSize” and change the value to 32 (Decimal).

After setting this up, you should restart your computer to increase your internet speed.

Read: How to increase Download Speed in Google Chrome.

2] Add a Default TTL

TTL or Time To Live is a feature in Windows that defines the time assigned to a packet by your router to be in the air. The default time assigned by Windows is 128 millisecond.

This feature can make your computer lag as your computer ends up waiting for the packets that it will never receive. Therefore, adding a default TTL can help in making your internet experience lag-free.

To add a default TTL you need to follow the prescribed steps:-

Navigate using the following route:-

ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParameters

After this, you should restart your computer and see.

3] Close conflicting applications

There are a lot of applications running in the background that can cause strain over your network connection. These applications can be stopped for a while. You need to check which of then could be using the internet connection and then stop them. Security software is of course to be excluded. Therefore, in this section, we are going to check the applications and then stop it for a temporary bump up in internet speed.

Hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select Task Manager from the security options.

This will end that task for a bit so that you will be able to enjoy fast internet for a bit. If that task is not important to you then you should uninstall that application.

To uninstall the application follow the prescribed steps:-

4] TCP Extension for High Performance

Another thing you can do to improve your network speed is to modify the TCP1323Opts value. We are going to enable TCP Timespacing with its help.

To do that, you need to follow these steps:-

Open Registry Editor

Navigate through the following route:-

ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParameters

5] Scan for Virus & Malware

Virus & Malware are notorious for causing problems to your computer and making your internet connection slow is one of them. So, apart from making sure that you do not log in to any suspicious site or download anything malicious, is to scan your computer.

For this scan, we are going to use the built-in Windows Defender.

To do that you need to follow the prescribed steps:-

Step 1: Hit Win + X and select Settings.

This will scan your Operating System for viruses and then delete any detected virus or malware making your computer virus-free. After the completion of the scanning process, you should restart your computer once to improve your internet speed.

Other suggestions that may be helpful when using a really slow internet connection:

Compress while sending multiple files -In order to send more than one file via e-mail using a compression utility like 7-Zip so that it takes less space in your and recipients mailbox.

Use distribution list for sending files – To send e-mails to more than one recipients rather than listing each recipient separately use a distribution list so that messages are sent efficiently and faster.

Use Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook while you are offline – With the help of Cached Exchange Mode quick access to your mailbox is possible even if the connection is lost while working. The copy of the mailbox gets stored on the hard drive and is regularly updated with the mail server provided that you are using a Microsoft Exchange Server e-mail account.

Simple e-mail signatures, reduced e-mail size – Instead of using images and other kinds of graphics in the e-mail signatures which takes time while sending messages create text-based distinctive e-mail signatures with a combination of colors, fonts, and type sizes. Such an e-mail signature looks professional and is quicker to transmit and receive.

Save Web Pages to the local hard drive and browse offline.

Increase your cache to load Web Pages faster – Temporary Internet files cache plays an important role in Browsing as some images will get cached on your computer and when the Web Page is revisited it will take less time to open.

We hope you found the post useful. There are more suggestions here that will help you fix slow Internet speeds.

The issue was partly uncovered by internal whistleblower Sherron Watkins, while high stock prices movement also raised suspicion. The key individuals in the scandal – Jeff Skilling (CEO) and Ken Lay (former CEO) were found guilty and were put in prison.

2. WORLDCOM

In the year 2002, WorldCom (now MCI Inc.) was found guilty of underreporting expenses by capitalizing them while at the same time inflating revenues by using fake entries.
