Xiaomi MIUI 9 launch is almost here: here’s what’s coming
News of Lenovo giving up on its own “Pure Vibe” skin in favor of a stock Android experience is being hailed as a victory for pure Android experiences. While that may be true, it is just one of almost a dozen OEM-customized experiences available. One of them, Xiaomi’s MIUI, has just gotten its sweet version 9 late last month and will be rolling out to the Xiaomi Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4X this week. If you own one of these phones or are generally curious what it has to offer, read on for a brief survey of the MIUI 9 land.Smart Optimization
Xiaomi’s keynote when it announced MIUI 9 and the Mi 5X focused a lot on machine learning features. Unsurprising given the global trend, even in smartphones. While Xiaomi did introduced its own smart assistant, one of the more subtler ways it injected machine learning into MIUI 9 is through system resource optimization. Rather than distributed resources equally among running processes and apps, MIUI 9 will give a larger allocation to apps and processes that, based on user behavior, it deems to be more important. This gives the impression that the phone is snappier and faster, simply because it smartly predicts what’s important to the user.
Smart Assistant
Also unsurprising, Xiaomi revealed its own Smart Assistant, its answer to Google Assistant, at least in the Chinese market. For now, however, it seems that Xiaomi’s assistant is more like Google Now than Google Assistant.
Smart App Launcher
The last bit of smartness comes in the form of a Smart App Launcher, which is a bit of a misnomer. It’s not your traditional app launcher. Instead, it’s more like the Smart Text Selection that Google is introducing in Android O, where a user can select text in, say, a message in a chat app and the system will suggest an app to open it with. Definitely easier than doing a copy-pasta dance.
Live Icons
Another misnamed feature, it’s more like animated icons than anything. It honestly doesn’t add any concrete functionality and only changes the icon’s appearance in the moments before an app’s window opens and after it closes. It’s more aesthetic in purpose but Xiaomi insists it makes the phone feel more alive.
Lock Screen Shortcuts
Google has long banished widgets from Android lock screens, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t useful. Fortunately for Xiaomi fans, the company is bringing some of those back. Well, the usefulness, not the widgets. The lock screen will have a special page just for access to some Xiaomi-specific services. Sadly, that seems to be all that’s there.
Key and Gesture Shortcuts
MIUI 9 does make up for it by allowing for a large number of shortcuts triggered by buttons and gestures to activate this or that functionality. And, no, you don’t even need a dedicated button for that or to squeeze your phone.
Silent/DND Quick Access
Believe it or now, volume controls have been, and still is, one of the most hotly debated user interfaces on Android. How should users silence their phones quickly? How should Do Not Disturb (DND) be triggered? That part of Android’s UI has changed almost every release. In MIUI 9, Xiaomi is giving users more direct control over those settings without having to dive into the settings app. They can easily set DND mode and for how long, just by swiping down.
Android 7.0 Nougat features
MIUI 9 is not just a significant change because of those features. It’s also a huge one because, at long last, Xiaomi owners will be able to enjoy the benefits of Android 7.0 Nougat. One of the biggest changes is the addition of split screen, which works even on smartphones.
When and Where It’s Coming
In addition to being a long time coming, Xiaomi fans are excited for MIUI 9 because of the wide range of smartphones that will be supported with it. The Xiaomi Mi 5X, Mi 6, and Redmi Note 4X will be getting the update on Friday, August 11. On August 25, Chinese models of the Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5c, Mi Max 2, Mi Max 32G, Mi Max 64G/128G, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi Note Pro, and Redmi 4X. Then all other Xiaomi and Redmi phones, except for the Mi 1, Mi 1S, and Mi 2A will follow.
The one caveat with this roll out is that these mostly covers the Developer ROMs. But more importantly, Xiaomi warns that there will be some features in the Chinese MIUI 9 version that won’t be present in the Global ROM. This will most likely be features that tie in directly to Xiaomi-exclusive services which, fortunately or unfortunately, probably includes the Smart Assistant and Smart App Launcher.

Xiaomi Mi3, Meizu Mx3 And Oppo N1! Flagship Battle Begins September, Details Here!
Xiaomi Mi3
The Xiaomi Mi3 is without doubt one of the most anticipated phones to come out of China this year. Xiaomi hit the nail right on the head with both the Xiaomi M1 and Mi2, and we have big expectations for the Mi3!
Although we have seen plenty of purported leaked photos of the Xiaomi Mi3, the leaks are often followed up by further photos which contradict the first!
We were pretty sure we had a good idea that the Mi3 would be a much blocker looking device when compared to current Xiaomi phones after seeing the above photos, but the most recent leaks suggest a less angular and much uglier design.
Xiaomi Mi3 specifications
Insiders also suggest the Mi3 will have up to 3GB RAM, 5-mega-pixel front camera, 13 mega-pixel rear camera and 3400mAh battery.
We can also look at the Xiaomi Mi2A and recent accessory launches and MIUI updates for more clues. The Mi2A, the mid-range Xiaomi, has NFC and 5Ghz WIFI and we believe the flagship phone will get these feature also.
Xiaomi’s new headphone plus updates to the MIUI ROM to boost sound quality suggest the Mi3 could also pack a new stereo amplifier and may even come bundled with the ‘piston earbuds’.
Xiaomi Mi3 pricing and launch date
The last 2 flagship phones from Xiaomi both launched at an incredible 1999 Yuan ($320) for the base 16GB version, and with the price reductions to the Xiaomi Mi2S we think a price of around 1999 Yuan for the Mi3 won’t be to far from the mark, but we won’t be to shocked to see a slightly (very slightly) higher price.
The Mi3 will be available through China, Taiwan and HongKong (we might get another surprise at launch), but we don’t expect easy availability outside of China.
Xiaomi will launch the Mi3 at an event in Beijing on 5th September and we will be there to cover the show.
Meizu MX3Meizu have had a hard time lately, and they are not enjoying playing second fiddle to the ever poplar Xiaomi. For the Meizu MX3 (which might not even be the phones name) Meizu are planing to shake things up a little.
Meizu MX3 Specifications
Gizchina News of the weekJoin GizChina on Telegram
Meizu have been a lot less easier to read with the MX3, but that isn’t to say we haven’t got a few clues to what is going on under the MX3’s stylish exterior!
It looks like Meizu are sticking with their old chip manufacturer for the MX3, meaning that the new phone is going to be powered by a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa chipset, the same processor found in the Samsung Galaxy S4!
Other hardware details include 2GB RAM, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, NFC (except on the 16GB version), 5.1-inch 1080 x 1800 resolution display and the new Flyme 3.0 ROM based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Meizu MX3 launch
Meizu have already sent out the invitations for the MX3 launch and we will finally see the new Meizu phone on 2nd September at the Water Cube in Beijing!
The MX3 will be available in China and Hong Kong as well as Russia.
Oppo N1We have known for months that the Meizu and Xiaomi next generation phones would launch around September time, but word that the new Oppo is going to be launched during the same month has come as quite a surprise!
Even with only a few weeks of leaks, tipsters and Oppo themselves have been providing us with tantalizing clues about the new Android device which Oppo hope will be a worthy successor to the Excellent Find 5!
The only details we have concerning the design of the phone are these alleged leaked photos which appeared today. The images show a narrow oblong phone (a design we hope the Xiaomi Mi3 will share).
We can see from Oppo’s own leaks that USB, headphone jack and speaker position on these spy photos match what Oppo is saying is part of the Oppo N1, so we are quite confident that this is the actual phone.
The current Oppo Find 5 is a 5-inch 1080 phone, and rumours say that the Oppo N1 will be a larger 5.5-inch model but (from Oppo again) we know the N1 will be easy to use one-handed.
Oppo N1 Specifications
If we look at the current top of the range Oppo Find 5, the China only China Mobile version which as a Snapdragon 600 processor, we can guess the N1 will have an updated Snapdragon 800 chip. We can also assume at least 2GB RAM (probably 3GB) and NFC, which seems to be popping up on every Chinese phone this year.
Oppo’s own teasers tell us that the N1 will have a rear touch panel which could help using the phone 1 handed, and we also expect the 12 mega-pixel Oppo N-lens to make an appearance on the phone.
The Oppo Color ROM is expected to, in fact we believe Oppo will offer the N1 with either an Original Oppo ROM, the Color ROM and even a stock Android ROM just as they have with the new Oppo R819.
Oppo N1 launch and pricing
We know the Oppo N1 will launch in September but we don’t know where the launch event will take place or when! We also don’t know how much the N1 is going to cost, but a price of around 2999 Yuan ($490) sounds about right and is also the price the Find 5 went on sale for.
Oppo will first launch the N1 in China, but it will be quickly made available internationally through the official Oppo store and country based distributors.
Which Phone are you waiting for?If you had asked me which phone, Xiaomi Mi3, Oppo N1 or Meizu MX3, am I most excited to see last week I would have said the Xiaomi, but the news of Meizu’s change in marketing and the innovative features of the Oppo N1 make these phones just as tantalising!
Youtube Not Working? Here Is How To Fix It
YouTube is the largest video-sharing platform in the world with a huge audience and support for long lists of devices. However, despite its immense popularity, users face a range of issues at times. From black screen to constant buffering to playback error, there are lots of problems YouTube needs to address. Nevertheless, if YouTube is not working on your device then there is no reason to worry. In this article, we have come up with 15 different methods to fix many of its nagging issues. With that said, let’s begin the article without any delay.
YouTube Not Working? 15 Methods to Fix Issues in 2023In this section, we have mentioned 15 ways to deal with a multitude of YouTube issues. The steps are quite straightforward and you can easily resolve them on your own. Apart from that, we have also explained many steps to give you a better idea of the problems and their fixes. Now without further ado, let’s find the desired solution for you.
1. Check if YouTube is DownBefore looking for solutions, check if YouTube is down in your region. Of late, YouTube and many other online platforms have faced outages globally due to high-volume network congestion. So, if YouTube is not working all of a sudden then it’s likely down for everyone. You can find the real-time status of YouTube from here and here.
2. Clear Cache, Cookies, and Data2. On Android, tap and hold the YouTube app and open “App Info”. Here, go to Storage and then clear both data and cache.
3. Inspect Extensions
If YouTube is not working on your computer, there is a high chance that some Chrome extensions are blocking access. To find whether extensions are the main culprit, follow these steps.
1. Open Chrome and press “Ctrl + Shift + N” shortcut key (Cmd+Shift+N for Mac) at once and an incognito window will open up. Now, open YouTube and see if it’s working. If so, then some dubious extensions are certainly creating trouble.
2. To remove such extensions, paste chrome://extensions/ in the URL bar and hit enter. Here, go through all the extensions and uninstall the ones you have no idea about. Also, try to disable as many extensions as possible to determine the culprit extension.
4. Update Chrome and YouTube App1. On the desktop, open Chrome and paste chrome://settings/help in the address bar. Here, check for the latest update and install it right away.
2. On Android and iOS, open your respective app store and update the YouTube app. It should hopefully fix the problem you are facing.
5. Check Site Settings1. Paste chrome://settings/content/javascript in the Chrome URL bar and ensure the toggle is enabled for Javascript. On desktop computers, Javascript is a must for running YouTube properly.
2. Similarly, paste chrome://settings/content/sound in the address bar and enable the toggle for sound settings. It will allow YouTube to play sound.
6. Check Proxy SettingsSometimes, even after you have removed shady extensions, some changes remain in effect unless you reverse them manually. The proxy setting is one of them which extensions modify and that results in unreachable websites. Here is how to restore the proxy settings on your desktop.
7. Update Graphics DriverIf you are facing black or green screen issues while playing YouTube videos then in all probability, it’s the outdated graphics driver that is causing the problem. Here’s how to fix it.
1. On Windows PC, press “Windows” and “R” keys at once and a small Run window will open up. Here, type chúng tôi and hit enter.
8. Control Hardware AccelerationHardware acceleration is a great feature to play YouTube at the best quality. However, if your machine is old then disabling it will be a better option. It allows you to play YouTube at decent performance without any stutter or throttling.
However, if you have a powerful computer then do enable hardware acceleration. Open chrome://settings/system in Chrome and you will find the dedicated settings.
9. Update Date, Time, and RegionMany a time, due to incorrect timezone, date, or region set on the device, YouTube does not work and keeps showing the loading sign. So the fix is simple, just sync the time with the correct values and you will have YouTube working again. Open the Settings page of your device and look for time-related menu. Now, makes changes and restart your device, and hopefully this time YouTube works without any issues.
10. Uninstall Unknown AppsBesides Chrome extensions, there can be rogue applications installed on your PC which can create trouble against the proper functioning of YouTube. The best way to deal with this problem is to remove unknown apps.
1. On Windows PC, open the Run window by pressing the Windows and R keys at once. Here, type “appwiz.cpl” and hit enter.
2. After that, find apps which you don’t use often and uninstall them right away.
11. Restore DNS4. Open the Run window again and type “cmd” and hit enter.
5. Here, type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter. The DNS will be restored to the default settings.
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
12. Reset Network SettingsIf YouTube is not working on your Android or iOS device then you can try enabling the airplane mode. After a while, turn off the airplane mode and check if YouTube is working. If not, then you can reset the network settings altogether.
13. Update Operating System
It may seem unlikely but OS updates can fix most of the issues on devices. Device makers regularly push cumulative updates which are targeted to quell various types of bugs. Besides, your device also gets refreshed during the process with fresh installation and security patches. So, if you have a pending update on your smartphone or PC, go ahead and update it right now. It might resolve the YouTube issues you are facing on your device.
14. Use a VPNIf YouTube is not working in your school or college then it’s very likely that the website has been restricted by the authority. In such cases, a VPN can help you access YouTube by tunneling the network to a different country. Also, if you live in a country where YouTube is blocked then VPN can help you evade the geographical restriction. You can find the best free VPN services from our list here.
15. Contact your Internet Service ProviderIf none of the methods worked then your ISP may be at fault. ISPs are responsible for providing internet access, but they can also block access to certain websites from their end. So to resolve the YouTube issue, you should contact your ISP and ask them to lift the restriction.

Are Virtual Events Here To Stay?
Introduction
It’s not been easy for businesses operating in the events sector. You might have seen our venues lit up in red announcing to the world that we are on red alert.
We were the first industry to close when covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown swept the globe, and we will be the last to reopen. Fear not, virtual events sprung from nowhere and look like the solution. Don’t they?
Virtual events have been able to offer participants and attendees a platform, albeit a very different platform, to engage and interact with each other during the lockdown.
My business, Quadrant2Design, work with businesses who are exhibiting at trade shows. Many of our customers have chosen to follow the virtual event trend and they have reported mixed reviews of their success.
Different events have different value offering – you can learn, build relationships, entertain or promote depending on the type of event.
However, over the last six months, it has become apparent that virtual events can’t do this. With this in mind, what does the future look like for virtual events? Are virtual events here to stay?
A Rising Market SegmentIf we can say anything good about this year, it has inspired innovation. While some industries have struggled with the covid-19 outbreak and subsequent lockdown, others have thrived. A few have emerged from the woodwork.
Businesses have had to pivot to an online environment. Not impossible by any means. We’ve been slowly making these changes for several years. But there’s nothing like a global pandemic to speed up the future.
Virtual events were one of these digital pivots. They have existed for years. Many organisers would host virtual award shows or stream festivals to expand their reach, gather a larger audience or offer a sustainable alternative to guests wanting to attend.
The ban on mass gatherings meant event organisers had no choice but to pivot to the virtual alternative.

What is a Virtual Event?Did you have a Zoom party or play a pub quiz with your friends on the House Party app over lockdown? Congratulations! You’ve been to or hosted a virtual event.
A virtual event is a gathering of people interacting in an online environment. Rather than the face-to-face communication seen at physical events, communication takes place via chatrooms and event apps.
Benefits of Going VirtualThis format has several benefits. From a marketer’s perspective, the sheer amount of data that you can collect is enough to make your mouth water. Often, virtual events are easier to manage than in-person ones because there are fewer variables that can go wrong.
There is no cost involved when attending the event because you don’t have to travel or pay for accommodation.
As well as being cheaper, a virtual event is often easier for people to attend as they can do so from their home or office. These factors mean, in theory, virtual events should attract a larger number of visitors than physical ones do.

Drawbacks of Virtual EventsIt’s obvious, isn’t it? The reason people want to go to an event in the first place is the crowds. Socialising with friends, meeting new people and discovering new opportunities have always been prominent reasons for attending.
Without face-to-face interaction, organisers are having difficulty keeping visitors engaged.
A study by Wild Apricot found that the biggest challenge organisers were facing when it comes to planning a virtual event was engagement.
Participants have too many online calls and aren’t tech-savvy enough to participate or support an event taking place in a digital environment.
From an organiser’s perspective, over three-quarters reported that they spent less on virtual events than in-person events.
However, almost a third of organisers stated revenue was a challenge as it was harder to get supporters to participate and visitors to engage. Despite being cheaper to run, virtual events don’t make as much money as in-person events.
When do Virtual Events Work? It’s unfair to lump all virtual events into the same category. Events themselves, whether physical or virtual, fall into several subcategories. To give you an idea, here are a selection of event subcategories:
Weddings
Conferences
Charity Races
Music Festivals
Food Festivals
Exhibitions
Birthday Parties
Sports Games
Parades
Live Music Gigs
Political Rallies
Protests
Seminars
Workshops
Press Conferences
Galas
You can see the predicament. A food festival wouldn’t work online. Visitors wouldn’t be able to smell or taste the food and businesses wouldn’t make any money. A seminar would be easier to migrate into a digital environment.
Virtual events create a distraction-free environment, perfect for educational or persuasive events.

When don’t Virtual Events work?A lot of events are successful because of the physical presence of people. Visitors attend because of the atmosphere that a crowded exhibition venue or underground music club creates.
Think about the purpose of the event you are hosting or attending. Does it require people to sit down and focus on a person or series of talks? A virtual event can replicate that. But if it requires people to interact with each other, dance, network and make connections then digital with not replace physical.
Wild Apricot listed engagement as one of the biggest challenges when running a virtual event. Despite these tricks to build a super audience, many of the event subcategories that we listed above need engagement to be successful.
Business events that promise to connect suppliers with buyers will not be successful without engagement. Sports teams won’t be motivated or encouraged without a stadium full of cheering fans. And the same goes for live music and festivals.
Where engagement is key to running a successful event, the virtual event industry has to find a way of engaging visitors. The available options aren’t working for the majority of subcategories.
What does the future look like?Frankly, it is impossible to predict what will happen in the future. Everyday our outlook is changing. But having watched the rise of the virtual events industry over the last six months and seen how people responded, I don’t think in-person events have anything to fear.
As highlighted, there are only a select few event types that can successfully run on a digital platform.
In most cases, people aren’t interested in participating in or attending a virtual event that doesn’t offer engagement. Where face-to-face interaction is essential, virtual events will never replace in-person events.
On the other hand, it is impressive how the events industry managed to pivot off the back of a crisis so quickly. Organisers have shown their ability to adapt and innovate under pressure.
If they can keep this up, maybe they will develop a new form of virtual event that encourages engagement and interaction.
There is something to be said for the reduced costs associated with planning and attending virtual events. As the UK braces for the largest recession in generations, budgets are likely to be tightened in a business and consumer sense.
Furthermore, travel restrictions are still in place across the globe and capped venue requirements make it almost unfeasible to make sufficient revenue from in-person events. Venues need between 70%-90% capacity to run efficiently and make money. Otherwise, they would have to increase their prices or limit their services.
Virtual events will likely be around for a while. They may even replace some types of events indefinitely.
Webinars and press conferences are easier to manage online and require a distraction-free environment. Attendees get everything out of the event that they signed up for without having to leave their home.
Where virtual events don’t offer the same benefits as an in-person event does, such as with live music or business events, we will see their online alternatives filter out. This won’t be an overnight change.
Virtual events will be around until there is no threat from covid-19. Before lifting travel restrictions and social distancing, we will need to see either a dramatic drop in the number of cases or a vaccine.

Introducing Hybrid EventsAs in-person events begin to take place again, organisers have been left pondering whether they will attract the crowds and offer the value they did before lockdown. But with an audience who have had enough of virtual events, what is the solution?
Travel restrictions and budget reductions mean physical events won’t be feasible in the immediate future. Event organisers have to adapt to another new situation.
People are depending on in-person events to come back, but virtual events have proven a worthy alternative since the ban on mass gatherings.
Hybrid events are the future. A physical event with a virtual twist. Two events that run alongside each other allowing face-to-face communication, relationship building and networking whilst providing a platform for those who cannot attend to do so.
Looking at business events such as exhibitions as an example, exhibitors will be able to have a presence on the floor. The people who attend will likely be senior decision-makers who are in the market for a new product.
Nobody will risk his or her health for a day out of the office. A virtual platform will create an environment for learning and sharing industry secrets, replacing the speaker sessions and workshops.
Exhibitors will be able to display their products at both events, increasing overall reach.
Hybrid events will help to overcome the challenges organisers have raised about virtual events. The in-person element is a chance to engage with attendees and those who aren’t as tech-savvy or bored of virtual platforms.
The virtual event will create a distraction-free environment for audiences to learn about new products or brands and keep up with industry innovations.
Organisers don’t have to worry about travel restrictions because everyone can attend the event from their home. Participants benefit from additional visitor data and feedback. Hybrid events are better for everyone.
SummaryIn conclusion, covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown have forced an industry innovation that needed to happen. There are several benefits when it comes to virtual events.
Reduced costs, easier management, data collection are just a few reasons why participants have enjoyed them.
However, we have seen a drop in engagement as people admit to being bored with virtual alternatives. Without engagement, events don’t work. It is for this reason that I don’t think virtual events are here to stay. Not in the majority of cases anyway.
Educational or professional events, such as workshops or seminars, may be held in an online environment for a long time.
They offer the same value to visitors and participants both in-person and online. Virtual webinars offer a distraction-free environment and don’t hinder a participant’s ability to learn.
Organisers have been paying attention to this. They’ve seen which formats and types of events work online, and which don’t. They’ve come up with a solution to ensure that everybody wins.
Hybrid events will become a new trend. Introducing everything that we have learnt from virtual events to the in-person events that offer so much potential to participants is the way forward if we want to revive the events industry and combat the challenges that we will all be facing.

Cpu Overheating For No Reason? Here Is How To Fix It
CPU computes several complex algorithms at the speed of billions of cycles per second. It is acceptable to generate some amount of heat while working at such great speed.
A CPU temperature of 50-60 degrees Celsius at normal usage and 80-90 degrees during intensive work is quite common. But if the processor exceeds this temperature, then it is overheating. Unless your CPU is older or overclocked, overheating processor is usually the result of below-par heat dissipation.
Whatever the cause, we are going to show how you can care for your CPU and prevent it from reaching higher temperatures.
When a CPU overheats, it starts thermal throttling, and the performance decreases. But what actually rises the CPU temperature beyond its threshold? Let’s look at a few of the causes.
Faulty CPU fan
Accumulation of dust
Inefficient air circulation
Depleted thermal paste
Low fan speed
Overclocking the CPU
Heavy programs running in the background
Malware infection
At first, you need to be sure that your BIOS or the temperature monitoring application is showing the correct reading. You can use different software such as HWMonitor, Open Hardware Monitor, etc., to observe the temperature. See if all of them denote your CPU to be overheated.
If so, let’s move on to the fixes right away.
You can find such programs using Task manager and end them.
Sometimes, the programs run in the background using the CPU silently. In such a case, you can disable background applications.
Restart your system and see if it solved the issue. If the programs use high CPU again after the restart, then we recommend you uninstall them. You can also clean-boot your system to diagnose the exact process/application that’s causing the high CPU usage.
Not all CPU-hogging programs are intentional. If your system is infected with malware, they can use up the processor without any mercy. As a result, the CPU load increases, and it heats up more than its limit.
You should run a complete virus scan on your system using the Windows defender tool. You could use a third-party antivirus, but it can consume additional processing power. Let’s run a virus scan using Defender.
It can take a bit of time to complete the scan and remove the malware. See if the CPU temperature reduces after the virus scan.
When you run a graphics-intensive program or simply a demanding application, it uses a lot of processing power. This can load the CPU even more if you run those applications using integrated graphics. The integrated graphics unit uses the CPU’s capacity to render the images.
So, if you continuously use heavy programs and play high-end games, you should add a dedicated GPU to your system. The dedicated GPU has its own processor, memory, and cooling system.
Using a GPU reduces the pressure on the CPU even more if you enable the Hardware Acceleration feature. This feature removes some load from the processor and uses other system resources such as GPU to run them.
Let’s see how you can enable Hardware acceleration on your system.
You should find your CPU temperature to decrease significantly.
Windows provide an option to manage the power plan and tweak the power usage settings of your system. If you are facing the CPU overheating problem in a laptop, you can use a balanced power plan or power-saving options. This provides a balanced performance and power usage compared to the High-performance setting.
Let’s see how you can set these settings on your PC.
See if the CPU’s temperature comes to the normal range.
Most of us overclock our CPU to get the best performance out of it. It does the job excellently as well. But overclocking can increase the CPU temperature so much that it throttles to preserve its integrity.
If you have overclocked your CPU, it may be a major reason for its high temperature. So, you should revert the overclocked settings to normal performance. Let’s see how you can do it.
You can simply uninstall the program if you have used software to overclock your CPU.
You should find your CPU running at normal clock speed and its temperature back to normal. In addition to overclocking, if you are active in cryptocurrency mining and use other heavy programs, they consume a lot of processing power. So, you can uninstall those programs to see any changes in the CPU temperature.
CPU fan is the major component responsible for maintaining the CPU temperature. If the fan is not working properly or is damaged, the CPU won’t get adequate cooling.
So, you need to verify that the fan’s cable is not damaged or unplugged and its speed is sufficient for your system. Let’s disassemble your system to do it.
Before re-assembling the system, let’s clean it first.
Dust is the enemy which we can’t really avoid. Our system suffers from overheating issues when too much dust accumulates. It clogs the vents, slows down the fan, and insulates the heat sinks preventing them from dissipating heat.
So, if you have not cleaned your PC in a while, the dirt collected on the CPU fan may have resulted in overheating of the CPU. While you are checking the fan, you need to clean your heatsink and the PC and free it from any dust.
Operate your system and observe if the CPU temperature rises again.
The CPU fan draws the cold air inside and then pushes away the hot air to dissipate the heat generated in the CPU. But if the area is so congested that the fan cannot remove the air outside, the heat won’t get dissipated. As a result, the CPU overheats.
This effect is more pronounced in laptops when you use them over a soft surface. The soft surfaces such as the mattress, compress and block the vents.
Similarly, if the room air itself is hot or there is excessive sunlight falling on the system, then it will automatically heat up.
So, you should use your system in a room or place with enough space for air circulation. Even better if the room has cooler airflow. Use the laptop on hard surfaces such as books or tables. It is more beneficial to get a laptop cooling pad.
Thermal paste removes air bubbles between the CPU fan’s bottom and the processor to reduce insulation at the microscopic level. Thus, the heat gets transferred from the CPU to the heat sink much more effectively.
But, over time, the thermal paste degrades, and the heat dissipation process may be ineffective, causing the CPU to overheat. Thus, you should remove the old thermal paste and re-apply the new one to the processor.
Run the computer to see any changes in the CPU temperature.
When the processor’s load increases, it draws more power from the power supply unit. The high power draw increases the temperature in return. Undervolting a CPU means reducing its maximum working voltage by keeping its operating speed constant. So, when the voltage decreases, the temperature also reduces accordingly.
Undervolting is one of the most used techniques to lower the CPU temperature. It is totally safe and, if done at an appropriate level, increases the performance even more. But there are several steps to follow while doing it. So, we have prepared a detailed guide on how to undervolt your CPU safely.
Sometimes the fan speed may not be sufficient to suffice the workload of the processor. This can result in inefficient cooling and eventually overheating of the CPU.
However, you can change your CPU fan’s speed if your manufacturer has it unlocked and works in PWM mode. The speed of a DC fan cannot be varied. Let’s see the way to increase fan speed using BIOS.
If you want to keep your CPU temperature reduced further, then you can perform its delidding. It is the process of removing the top metal portion (lid) of the CPU.
The metal portion and the actual circuit consist of minute air pockets that raise the temperature. The metal lid is kept there only for protection. Removing it will bring the CPU in direct contact with the heat sink, improving the cooling efficiency much more. It can even reduce the temperature while keeping the CPU overclocked.
The basic process is that you need to remove the lid, scrub the Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) and apply the new one. But the process is risky and requires a lot of steps. We have provided a detailed guide demonstrating the safe process of delidding the CPU.
Samsung: Apple Television Is Old News. Smart Tv Is The Future And Already Here
When Steve Jobs told his biographer Walter Isaacson that he finally “cracked the code” to building an integrated television set that is user-friendly and seamlessly syncs with all of your devices, Samsung Australia’s Director of Audiovisual Philip Newton told the Sydney Morning Herald that Jobs’ was talking about connectivity.
He laughed off the mythical iTV and dissed Jobs’ TV brain wave as “nothing new,” saying the future is now and it is his company’s Smart TVs:
When Steve Jobs talked about he’s ‘cracked it’, he’s talking about connectivity – so we’ve had that in the market already for 12 months, it’s nothing new, it was new for them because they didn’t play in the space. It’s old news as far as the traditional players are concerned and we have broadened that with things like voice control and touch control; the remote control for these TVs has a touch pad.
Samsung is promoting Smart TVs left and right at the CES show that is underway this week in Las Vegas. The company is showing off apps and games such as Angry Birds running smoothly on Smart TVs. Feature-wise, Samsung Smart TVs are beating Google TVs to the punch with capabilities such as voice interaction, facial recognition, integrated camera controls for multi-video conferencing and multitasking.
Sony, Panasonic and LG are also pushing integrated television sets built around the Smart TV platform. While not officially an exhibitor, Apple reportedly dispatched 250 employees to attend the show and monitor what competition is doing; among them is the head of iOS product marketing Greg Joswiak. Apple has been rumored for months to launch 32- and 37-inch television sets in the summer of 2012. Does Samsung see Apple as a threat?
Not at all, though that might be just a posture as Apple and Samsung are embroiled in a complicated web of copyright infringement lawsuits in courts the world over.
Do we see them as a threat, not specifically no … probably we’ll have some competitors that may suffer … but we see it as a great opportunity, the more big name brands that get involved in smart [TV] the better off we are as a brand because we know we can lead it.

He summed up:
Samsung makes TVs. They make everything – the screen, the PCBs, and the case. Apple will be outsourcing their manufacture and they won’t be able to compete on price, especially when they’re buying panels from Samsung. Can Apple beat other CE manufacturers at this game? Sure. They’ve done similar things before. But Samsung and Sony and LG have plenty of time to sell TVs and at two a second, Apple will have quite a bit of catching up to do.
In the meantime, Samsung updated its television lineup yesterday with the newly announced Samsung ES8000 LED TV model that is coming “soon.” Pictured below, it sports a dual-core chip, slim bezel, U-shaped stand and screen sizes going all the way up to 75-inches. Samsung America President of Consumer Electronics Division Tim Baxter explained the benefit of multitasking on a big screen during a CES presentation:
Let’s say you are watching a movie on Netflix and want to check in on the hockey highlights, just toggle from Netflix to one of my favorite apps, NHL Game center, and come right back to the movie without having to quit the app and launch another app.
